I automatically lost everytime I crossed the start line (?!)

Presentation very professional though. Good work.

Really wanted to like this game but it has too much wrong with it.

1. Time to cross checkpoints just is not long enough. Barely enough time to cross first few!

2. Car handling is well dodgy - back wheels swing all over the place like you are on ice.

3. After about ten games, things start getting slower and slower until frame rate drops to a crawl

4. Tried to play with no opponents but when game starts either camera just swings around start position and never allows you to start or I get Runtime error 7008 - object does not exist at line 1472

5. Cannot tell difference between bottle designs.

6. Car select screen - car image does not change when you select a different car

Other than that it looks great and presentation is top notch but basically the game is unplayable in its current state.

Boo!

1. Time to cross checkpoints:
I tested it with few friends and we all finished all tracks in all cars at first position.

2. Car handlig :
Yes, physical model of car is not good. I'm sorry for that.

I didn't tested playing without oponnents. I check this.

6. Car images change. Click on car logo on top part of screen.

6. Yes I can select from the three different cars by clicking logos at top. Text changes to show car characteristics but the image does not change. Stays as red car.

Reloaded game and game now works on single car mode. Other opponents are scattered around track! Presumably where they last crashed on previous game.

Played another game and the 'You Lose' image was floating near the start line! Camera then changed to overview mode with 'You Lose' image flying around!

Will be interesting to see what other people experience.

Boo!

I bet nobody can beat my bug:
Every time I go over the startline I automatically lose.

I'm siding with the Satan theory.

Really nice little game, but SO difficult. I cannot complete any level with any car because the time allowed is just TOO short. I thought that picking up the bottles might increase my time but it doesn't. Car is very hard to control, but you sort of get used to it after a while. Lovely presentation Please re-release this with a realistic amount of time in! I wonder if on a slower PC it would be playable?

Cheers,

Rich

Glad to know you increased the time. Now I just hope the opponents just sit out there when you've disabled em. Now you just need to work on the physics (and hopefully AI where they try to avoid the other cars, always got a bad pileup right past the starting line). I'll download the new version later.

PS: I told my dad about this game, and he said the concept of leaving the opponents out on track would make a great Nascar cup. Where if a car wrecks, all they do is get the driver out, and let the smoldering remains stay on the track, and the other drivers have to avoid the mess

Opponents remain there only if you first run race with opponents, then disable them and start next race. If you exit and start game again with disabled opponents, then they are removed corectly.

AI is created by waypoints and some collision checking ahead of car. I don't want change this. I know that it is poor solution but I now work on next game so I don't want change major parts of code.

I think that only part that need rewrite is collision checking.

First up, good work. Nice and polished. Let me give my likes and dislikes, and I hope they help.

Likes:
-Ran smooth on my system P2200, 1GB RAM, GeforceFX 5600 128MB, but what do you expect?!?
-Models and look generally looks pretty good. Overall, nicely designed, especially the car models.
-Played pretty well, and I didnt have any problems with crashing or slow down or anything.
-A.I opponents were fairly convincing (i.e. they didn't look wrong, and they were about the right level of difficulty)

Dislikes:
-Physics is hard to do well, so I appreciate it's not an easy task. However, it wasn't too great. By all means keep it as it is, but I think the cars need to slide a bit, and not slow down so much when you turn tightly. Seemed a bit sudden. The fish tailing rear end of the car was a bit OTT. I'm guessing it was an animation. Wasn't too bad though.
-Collisions are a bit annoying. Once again, I know it's hard to code bouncing collision and momentum transfering etc. but it's not fun stopping dead each time you collide with something.
-Music was a bit low quality, but I'm guessing you did that to reduce download size, so fair play.
-Car sound FX were too quiet. Had the same problem with the other racer here.

So overall mate, good work. Nice and polished and finished, but would be more fun with slightly better physics and collision. Anyway, nice job.

Very nice.

2 goods
-Great graphics
-Nice car models

2 okays
-Turning is shaky
-very difficult game

2 improvments
-Becher bottle models(just seem really boxy)
-Got stuck on walls a couple times when only my back of the car was touching, while I was still accelerating.

Most of these things were mentioned above, but nonetheless, I think this is a great game.(One worth playing to remind me why I make games )

seems to me that the difficulty could be a syncing issue. Just a thought.

Thank you. I'm very happy that you like game. On czech forum all people write that game is bad and had errors etc. so I was unhappy. Some people wrote me that graphics is missing on Radeon cards. So now i need improve some code but I dont have idea why is some graphic missing.

Oooo, btw I like the tunnel vision effect when you pick up lots of speed powerups, but I found after I picked up 3 or 4 in a row the screen turned into more of a sniper scope and I ended up about 12 miles away from the car. lol

Good effect, but it needs a bit of limiting after you get loads of powerups.

GeForce 2 MX.

Menu's unuseable. Car shadows corrupted.

Are you sure you have used ^2x^2 sized textures? It looks very much like a case of non-square textures to me, but it also effects the menu's are they 3D or sprites? I was guessing paste image/sprite affair so non-square should not effect it, yet it did.

I cant post a piccie to demonstrate the probs as my web host is still down to move provider, but if you catch me on MSN i'll send you a screenshot of the onscreen carnage.

Looks like it has all the buildings blocks for a proper race game there.

shadow is 128x128 ghosted texture
menu is made by load image / paste image so I think that I don't need special textures for that. Or did I need ?

No paste image should work fine. I'm not sure what the problem is then, but really I cannot see a thing so there is a problem somewhere. My own DB creations and others work fine so i'm confident that it is not a driver problem.

this has the potential to be a very nice game, although i have the same problem as chris, everytime i go over the startline i lose.

so instead i go backwards, lol.

also, another problem is the AI, your cars seem to go off into random places, not actually following the track, but instead crashing into anything that they can actually crash into lol. most of them just go straight into the walls and just stay there for the duration of the game.

i have to say though, the starting count down looks pretty kewl

umm... Is the link broken? I get a 404 in czech (?).
[edit] never mind...
I run it and when I'm about to click on "english" it crashes. A hard crash. No ctrl+alt+del. I have to use the Reset button. No error message, just a mess of colors.

Hi,

I like this it's not too bad.

Just a few things that ruin it, the major one being the collision.

Little bit of slowdown sometimes but thats cause of the matrix.

I completed all three tracks could have been a little harder but then if you hit anything the collision makes it very easy to loose.

A bit more side ways slide in the car would have been nice but it's not bad arcade physics.

No other problems, no crashes or anything else.
