I created a flashlight with hand and placed a bone in front of it called FIRESPOT. I exported it in Milkshape and when I try it in game, this happens....

as you can see, the hand is sooooo far from the player, how to fix it? thanks
EDIT: and the hand is supposed to be on the right side.. but it's in the center
EDIT2: the texture used for the ground is not mine and will not be used for any games, this is just for now because the closest segment I saw to take a screen cap. and I will NOT use this on any future games.

You have to edit some values in the 'gunspec' file which I have an example of below.

Its always a bit fiddly getting the position that you prefer.
Good Luck

how do you actually get the position? or is it trial and error?

I haven't done a weapon in a while but when I model one in Milkshape I keep the model positioned sitting on the grid and roughly at the center point of the grid.
I always get the scale correct nowdays for all models before I attempt to add bones and then animate them because scaling models with bones is very tricky and sometimes impossible to do without having adverse results.
When exporting to .x file you may have to tick or untick the 'right handle' option in the JT Export options depending on which way on the Milkshape grid you have your model facing, plus I always make sure that the 'Center at Position Offset' option is ticked.
By doing all of the above 'everytime' once I have the correct positional values entered in the gunspec I will be able to create more weapons and use the same values which will more or less be in position all the time.

Overall you will have to get correct positioning by trial and error for the first few times you position custom weapon models and it depends on the size and shapes of the weapons created.

Hope this helps and good luck.
