So, I downloaded the rusty hand rails xplosys provided to the community 5 years ago (http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=109694&b=24), and I placed the files in entitybank\user\rusty rails. I can see them when I go to place a new entity, and I can see them in the map editor. But when I test my level...where did they go?

Now, I can walk around and go to where they should be, and they DO prevent me from crossing them. It's as if they are an invisible wall at this point.

I checked the FPE files, and everything appears ok. The texture names in the file match the texture names in the folder, the locations match (well, only bumpent.[I forget the extension] is in a different folder), so I'm not sure why this is happening.

Anyone have an idea why the models display in the editor but not when I test the level?

Is this happening when you have 'full shader effect' in preferences on? Maybe it's still invisible when you set it to off aswell?

Just checked it both ways, and whether or not I have full shader effects on it doesn't display.

I just downloaded the model myself just now, and later I'll see if I can get it to work. I don't know if that effect file is a multi-texture effect. But meanwhile you can try to simply copy the texture files, place them in the same directory as the original but just add _D2 to the end of their names. ex: texture_D2.jpg

What version are you using of FPSC?

I'm using v1.20 r765 and it works for me. You can try making it dynamic rather than static to see if that does anything. Sometimes it does for me when I make it the opposite. Make sure and change the parameter "isimmobile" to "YES"

THEORY - you know everything but nothing works. PRACTICE - when everything works but don't know why. For me, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and I don't know why.

The problem is that the 'textures' are in '.jpeg' format which I think you should convert to '.PNG or .TGA' format.
Plus I would 'delete' the effect in the effect line because there are no shader map textures supplied with these models and therefor they can not use shader effects.

All the best of Luck.
