Hi, I bought FPSC X9 two days ago, and I'd like to know if it is normal that the graphics is very outdated ?
Is the models that come with the FPSC x9 that are outdated graphically , or every model pack looks in this way ?

Thanks

It is the models that come with the FPSC that are graphically outdated. FPSC can produce some pretty graphics with some optimization. Here are some steps to optimize graphics.
1. follow these pictures

Also you can look at this

and you can also look at these model packs.
Model pack 9
Model pack 10
Model pack 53
Model pack 57
Model pack 68
Hope this helps you.

Another thing you can do is put the ambient lighting to somewhere between 0-15. Now use all lights in your level without having any outside light. To me a darker level looks better in FPSC, also add some flickering lights here and there depending on the atmosphere.
Here are some examples.

They are still WIP, but I like how they came out

Thank you The last idea I can think of right now, is playing with different shaders. Just set up a quick map, maybe add some lights. Next place trigger zones around the map, and put in their main script some of the posteffect shader scripts. Then run around your level and walk into the different trigger zones and see which one you think looks best, if any. Next is then setting up the shader for your level. Here is how to do it
1. find the FX. file you liked in your effects folder under postprocess.
2. copy and past the .FX in files\effectbank\ps_2_0\
3. delete the "post-bloom" and rename your .FX file to "post-bloom"

(PS) don't forget to save a backup of the original ps_2_0. If I haven't been clear I can post some pics also

The engine is a good as you at the end of the day.

check rolfy stuff to see what can be done in fpsc.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxk6-8jegKQ

There also option's to use a mod that give you more features to fpsc if you hoping for a drag and drop and make a awesome game then this is not the product for you.

There a lot of skilled people on the forum and some great free media packs that will help you make your games.

But to get the best out of any engine you need to learn to script and do good level design.

I wish you the best in your projects and welcome to the forum
