I have used a windows 7 computer since i started with agk.
Dont forget to set the icon he starts agk with to run as administrator.
The same as when using windows vista.

I'm also using Win7 and have had no problems at all.

What kind of problem is your friend having?

And, do mean compile in AppGameKit or a Tier 2 compile?

And, what version of AppGameKit are they using?

Cheers,

There's no need to run as administrator unless you installed into Program Files.

I belive most users installs in to the default directory and its where it puts it
I ususally never chage the default directory.

Then there could be issues with various country specific win versions with various language settings.

I know some programs make some very weird extension names on there directorys for temp files sometimes depending on wath language version you use.

My country use letters with a having dots and circles above and eclipse wont compile in some cases if you use directory names with these letters

Or whas it the setting for compiling agk files to apks that didt work if i had it?
Cant remember right now?

At what point does your friend run into trouble? Does the AppGameKit editor launch successfully--is it only when they hit F5 that they encounter the problem? What is the problem specifically, an error or? There could be an infinite number of possible causes without knowing more details. AppGameKit generally works fine on Windows 7 but I suspect some firewall / Antivirus programs may interfere.

I never install things in the default directory. This is a personal quirk.

My AppGameKit directories are always directly on the C: drive (C:\AGK, C:\AGK1088).

Please, halley, can you answer the specific questions I and xCept have asked?

Not so personal, I don't even install things to the default drive

AGK is installed in P:\Win764\SDK(x86)\The Game Creators and my code is stored in D:\AGK
(see what I did there - P: for program, D: for development)

I believe it's good practice - especially in a dev environment - to keep my code as far away from Windows meddling little processes as possible.

And I always remove spaces in directory names, if given the chance. This is from my background coding in environments that don't play well with spaces in names (like DOS).

I do the same as AL (AGK is installed in C:\AGK\) I am uneasy with installing to long paths especially with spaces or special characters in them. It makes setting paths and navigating so much easier than if it's buried deep under the program files directory.
