Hello everyone!

My computer recently decided to go all weird.

I'm currently running a HP xw8600 workstation running on 2 gigs of ddr2 ram (Fried my other ram modules ) X5450 CPU and an XFX 9600Gt 512MB Green Edition GPU.

So now it beeps 5 times and does not switch on at all. I tried everything.

I removed everything that was connected to the computer; RAM, GPU, HDD, DVD Drive, etc, and tried to switch it on but it would not switch on. I thought it might be the PSU that might be causing the issue, so I tried using it on another computer of similar specs and it worked just fine.

I also reset all the BIOS to factory settings by clearing the CMOS, yet I haven't been able to start up the computer.

Any thoughts on what to do?

Thanks

Abdul Ahad

You could look in your motherboards manual to see what 5 beep tones means.

It runs on AMI Bios from what I know, so it says Process Failure. Don't know what that means.

If this just happened one day, it could be that the motherboard is fried. I'm not sure.

Yeah I fear that too but I just stumbled upon this.

I don't know what BIOS version it is running on, but I'm sure it's less than 1.07 because I never updated this when I got it.

Now how would I update my BIOS if my computer does not even start up?
