THIS

Once popular role-playing series Might and Magic will get a sequel. On the official website there is information that the Might and Magic X announce at the show PAX East, which will be held in Boston from March 22 to 24. No details yet, but the wait is just a few days.

Previous part of the series, Might and Magic 9: Writ of Fate, came back in 2002 and has been extremely unsuccessful. The publisher, Ubisoft, who bought the rights to the Might and Magic from a bankrupt company 3DO, decided to take a break for more than ten years. Ubisoft chose to focus on the branches of the series - a shooter and strategy branded as Might and Magic.

What do you expect from Ubi? Skyrim rival? Or Far Cry "with fairies and arcomage"?

Interesting. I loved M&M, at least I played M&M 6&7, I think I managed to get 7 running on Windows 7, however, the frame rate was ridiculously high . Ideally, I would like to see a modernised M&M that's true to M&M. But, we know that isn't going to happen, but at least there's a couple of indie titles inspired by the series and similar titles (including Sword of Akhranox)

I suspect it's more likely going to go down the route of Skyrim, but in the M&M world setting, which to be honest, wouldn't be so much of a bad thing, because at least then they can try to please M&M fans with that model, because they've got the large world exploration present in MM and there were plenty of similarities between the gameplay of Daggerfall and MM, but still managed to make the world their own.

I think Far Cry is the less likely option, but I think it's definitely something they can ruin by trying to go for the more used models of game making, but I am not envisioning a typical FPS title but in a fantasy setting with magic. If they do, well then, for shame.

Isn't a high framerate a good thing?

I've never actually played Might and Magic, only the strategy one at my friends house, it's quite fun actually.

Level 100 Forumer:
456,000 Health, 264,543 Keystroke Power.
Special Abilities: Flame Resistance, Troll Shield.

I've played the Might & Magic franchise and liked it a lot. Yes #9 was horrible but it was basically forced out of Alpha stage and put on shelves to sell. A shame.

Looking forward to M&M 10, hopefully they get a good party based system so it is NOT exactly like Skyrim.

It's a good thing if things are timer-based, when not, it's like playing in fast-forward.

I said about Far Cry because it's Ubi's, but Skyrim is Bethesda's. So MM engine coud be Dunia 2 (less likely 3)

Doesn't really show anything. But I guess it was meant as a teaser, but not a very good one.

Ah well, I hope they don't balls this one up.
