Hi Everyone,

I have just started designing the levels for my very first game and I have been using FPS creator. However there are certain things which I feel that I require to make the levels are I have them thought out and vision in my mind. Due to this I was wondering what programs I could use in order to make my own furniture, rooms etc.

Also I was wondering if you can use some of the other programs like Dark Basic along with other programs and import your work from it to FPS creator.

I understand that these questions might seem a bit silly but this is my first game and I am still trying to find my way around things.

Thank you

Welcome Shepard,

There are many, many programs you can use to make your own entities:

Blender
Fragmotion
Milkshape
AC3D
Google Sketchup
3D Studio Max (You better have a trust fund for this one)
and the list goes on.

Once you have your model made and UV Mapped (Google that one, I use Ultimate Unwrap 3D pro) export it to Direct X format and you can use the free tools provided by The Game Creators found on this page to make them FPSC ready:

FPS Creator Entity Maker and segment maker
http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2001&page=Files

They come with videos and I recommend watching them all.

Everyone here has been where you are so if you get stuck just ask.

Thank you Raymondlee,

I have looked into the programs that you mentioned above and I believe I will give Blender a test run and see how I get on with it. It does indeed have a steep learning curve, but it can only help me in the long run.

I will also look into the FPS Creator Entity Maker and Segment Maker and see how I get along with them.

Thank you again and should I come across a snag again, which is only bound to happen, I will make sure to ask any questions here.

Thank you,
Shephard

Hi again guys,

So I was messing around with FPSC and attempting to make a level and I noticed that if I put multple enemies in 1 room, as an example 3 or 4 they won't all attack me at the same time. They only seem to come at me 1 at a time.

Could anyone explain what might be causing this to be the case?

Thank you,
Shephard

Its likely they are all running the same main ai script, you can use the same script and just copy/rename it for use with separate characters.

I don't trip over...I do random gravity checks.

Ah thank you for that.

There was just one more question that I have. Is it possible to merge two levels together so when testing them out you can go straight from level 1 to level 2 as you would if the game was finished?

Unhelpful Titles

Please do not simply write "Noob Question", "I am a newb", "One Noobie Question", "A question", "Please help", "This isn't working" or anything similar as the title of your post. We have a search facility, and meaningless titles do not help others find answers to their questions. It will also help you to get quicker responses if people have an idea of your thread content.

Not while in the editor, no. You can only go from one level to the next in a build game.

There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.
