It used to be fine, I haven't used the FPIedit pad in a while, but once I thought about using it. Then, Advast pops up, says it is suspicious and removes the .exe and then never opens.

Is there anyway around this?
I really want to take FPIEditPad off Advast's target list.

Also, I've tried reinstalling it too, even to a new folder.

Advast says the infection is "Win21:Evo-gen". Is that something to be concerned about, even after I've used that program many times.

EDIT:Oh, I even scanned the file individually and Advast itself says,"NO THREAT DETECTED". *sigh*

Wierd. I googled Win21:Evo-gen and can't come up with what kind of virus or malware this is supposed to be. The only results I got were links to the Avast forums.

It seems Avast is the only major app that is reporting this kind of malware/virus. And look at the programs Avast is finding it in. I guess I should feel privileged in the company I'm in.

Visual Studio
Winword
Flashplayer.

I don't know what you can do except use another antivirus program. There are several good ones. I happen to use Free-AVG.

Also, it's unusual that they don't let you put it an exception list. AVG has an exception list found in the advanced settings.

THEORY - you know everything but nothing works. PRACTICE - when everything works but don't know why. For me, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and I don't know why.

Dear Friend,

I use Norton Antivirus, and i have some similar problems, especially when downloading apps from the internet. However, there are too many ways to avoid this.

You can, in example, inside Avast, make it don`t consider the fpi edit pad as a virus (exclude from Autoprotection, in case of Norton), or also you can set to avast exclude from virus detection the entire folder where is installed FPI edit pad.

At least, Norton Internet Security has those options, so whenever it detects some program i downloaded as a virus, i make Norton exclude from detection those files, so i can work perfectly with no problems.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I tinkered around with Avast a bit, and it's a little easy to get lost. So far my only option was to turn off the "Scan when Executed" option in the settings somewhere. It just doesn't have an option to allow certain files to be seen as safe.

Ah... In the File Security Shield, under the anti-virus in the Security tab.

That could probably work as a temporary fix since I lose part of my protection doing so. Until I can find a better, safer and more permanent solution, or if anyone else can help, it'll be useful for me and probably a lot of others too.

Thanks again guys for the suggestions.
