Hello im a total newbie here so go easy on me please.

I want to make an open world type game that isnt linear like call of duty. Best example would be Postal 2.

So I have few questions I need answered before starting this project:

1) Because I know FPSC cant handle huge open world maps or terrains I thought id split up the whole map/city into sections. So when a player wants to go lets say into a mall the game loads and he gets inside of it (the whole level being a mall) and then he can exit and return to the previous level. Basically like POSTAL 2. so whenever you wanted to go to a different map part it would load an entirely different level even though it seemed like its one huge level. Is this possible? will the player be able to go and return whenever he wants and still keep his weapons/loot?
2) Is it possible to add NPCS? like walking npcs that arent just standing around with weapons. for example police npcs would carry weapons and when you kill them they'd drop it but not normal peds. I want active NPCS. is this possible?

if you have any other tips please share!!! thank you!

So theres a FPSC project by Rolf that used an underground sewer system to access parts of a large city.

It was a very clever system and probably the best way of attempting something like an open world game in FPSC.

FPSCR will be much more suited to large maps but that won't be available until end of the year.

If your new to FPSC spend your time learning the tools, scripting language, some basic modelling and texturing skills which are all required to make any successfull project.

There is a stock NPC script called passive or you can use follow to have them following waypoints.

2) passive.fpi and follow.fpi or write one yourself

Unhelpful Titles

Please do not simply write "Noob Question", "I am a newb", "One Noobie Question", "A question", "Please help", "This isn't working" or anything similar as the title of your post. We have a search facility, and meaningless titles do not help others find answers to their questions. It will also help you to get quicker responses if people have an idea of your thread content.

I have updated the subject title for you. Please use something more helpful and appropriate in future.

Thank you.
