Geek Culture / Anyone really know their comics?

Ok this is a bit of a strange request, but here we go...

Back around the late 80's/early 90's (I can't give you a specific year, sorry) I used to buy and read a lot of comic books. You know the things, Marvel, DC, etc. Anyway as well as some of my favourites like Groo, X-Men and X-Factor there was this small mini-series (4 issues) and I'm trying hard to track it down because I never did get to buy the final issue.

I can't remember if it was a DC or Marvel title but it was a "real world" setting, the main character wore what looked like a hockey mask I believe and was basically on a quest to kill some punks that had shot his family. I remember one of the front covers was him doing some kind of kung-fu kick and shooting a machine gun at the same time (hrrmm!). I don't remember the title I thought it was a word like "avenge" or something, but I honestly couldn't be sure.

I know it's jack all to go on, but if there is anyone reading who knows their stuff when it comes to Marvel/DC or knows of sites I might be able to track this down on then I'd appreciat it

After MUCH digging around I found a list of all DC comics ever published and then read the whole thing (!!!) to find that the comic book I was talking about was called WILD DOG. Sort of a Punisher rip-off. Now I just need to find somewhere on-line that sells it

Wow, Rich that's a very obscure title! I've never heard of it personally... I've read Groo the Wanderer before though

Eek, I failed to mention that if you like this comic then you should read the new Punisher series written by Garth Ennis (Preacher).

Dynamo:yes the new Punisher kiss ass but it like some of the character are recyced from Preacher.

has any one read any 100 bullets comics there very good.

no its some one called Brian Azzarello, but Brian has writen for hellbalzer to and so did Ennis back in 90`s

Wild Dog (which I have now managed to buy off eBay!) was published in 1983 and only lasted 4 issues (plus some appearances in Action Comics it would appear). It was a rather interesting storyline when you look at it from todays perspective.. a kid (he was only 20 something), with a penchant for kung fu and machine guns, wearing a hockey mask and a red "wild dog" t-shirt goes around dishing out his own justice to terrorists in America.

Veerrrry interesting

Can't wait to receive them in the post.

I like Punishers style, but that's about all. My favourite comic books are the Sandman titles and also Stardust (Neil Gaiman again). Wild Dog is just a nostalgia trip Time to locate some X-Factor now too...

I loved the maxx when it came out. My so called mate 'borrowed them' never seen them since.

Got a stack of comics sitting in a box up the loft , ahh i might just get them out.
You read 'Good Omens' Rich? , no pictures but a good read.

In my opinion, DC comics suck.
I used to collect many years ago. I tried getting all Wolverine comics. I think I had about 1/3 of em before I stopped collecting. I do have "peter parker, the spectacular spider-man" #1 and I also have the "Secret Wars" issue 8, where spiderman gets the black costume.
