When a world with light sources is created within 3D world studio and exported into .dbo file does DarkBasic recognize the light sources, and integrates them into the game or does all light-mapping apply to the textures thus making them permanent?

All light-mapped lights are permanent, and any dynamic lights will not load into DBP. However you could code your own lighting system to load the dynamic lights, or use a shader which will allow the combination of both light-maps and dynamic lights. I believe there is one such shader floating about the forum somewhere.

Ah, got it. For the sake of not creating another thread, is a .dbo file interpreted by DBP as a one single textured file or is it seen as an archive of textured objects with their own IDs and Coordinates?

Reason asking is that if I am going to create my world in 3D World Studio, I want to make sure I can design my levels inside it completely. Say if I want to create a door that is only unlocked with a key, can I insert an entity of the modeled key in 3D world editor, perhaps on a table and then figure out its ID so that I could code in DBpro for that key object to be pick-up-able and usable?

DBO files load as textured limbs. No need to figure out id's the entity names and settings are accessible using Limb Name$(), including your lights.

Matrix1 Get Limb Count() is useful here.
