Hi

Windows has that little cd player program that allows you to name cd's and all the tracks on them. It must use some kind of serial number to tell which track list to use when it recognises a cd, is there any way of getting a serial number from a music cd (or any cd) in dbpro? If not is there a chance of it being added in a later patch?

My GetResource plug-in can get hold of serial numbers for any valid drive.


Mirrors are more fun than television. Well, that was fun, in a not-so-fun sort of way...

Thanks for that, I haven't started using dlls yet in my programs, but I might as well start somewhere. The source codes you put with that dll makes it look rather daunting to me. Mainly because of commands being used that I haven't touched yet, like ptr and constant.

But you don't get anywhere without pressing on.

Any extra help you offer for using that dll will be much appreciated.

PS - I just thought of something, when you say the plugin can get the serial numbers of any valid drive, do you mean it will get the serial number of the cd drive, or the disc itself, or both? I do have a knack for asking strange questions...

i know with the old windows cd player... it actually read the disk first to get info like this...

track 1 - 3:58
track 2 - 2:42
track 3 - 2:54
track 4 - 3:27

then if you named everything... when it read a cd and came up with the same track times... it would apply the saved names to the program

For readimg track info, my BASS interface may be useful.
