Is there anyway to rename the .pck file?

When I create a game as "alone" or "small exe with pck file", the game is created with:

Game.exe
Game.pck

Is there anyway I rename the game.pck file to "content.dat" or something, or move it to another folder? I tried doing this manually, but the game silently crashed, which is fair enough.

Cheers

It has to be called what it's called so the exe file can find it. It has to remain a .pck I believe.

Hi Mobiius

I thought so, but is there any way in DBP I can tell it what to look for, so when the game runs, the EXE knows what the file is called and where to look for it?

No. It's all or nothing. But why use the pck option? Why not just compile to exe and not use the pck at all?

OK cool. No problem. Was just wondering.

I want to use a PCK so that if I patch the game:

Download the updated PCK file
Replace the old PCK with the new PCK
Execute a new instance of the EXE
Close the initial EXE

I have checked this, and it does work, but I was just wondering if renaming the PCK was an option.

Thanks anyway Mobiius

You may be able to hex edit the exe file to look for a different pck file, but I wouldn't trust it.
