I want it, but I'm basing this on my VR920 headset I already have.
See, playing Half Life 2 with a controller and 3D headset is awesome - enough so that you would consider saving $300 for the same thing. The VR920's have quite small screens, they aren't comfortable, the nose clasp things for instance must have been designed by an idiot. But it's enough to make me realize exactly what I want from 3D entertainment.
Really, we need a big, encompassing screen, no looking through square poles like with the VR920.
Oculus check...
It has to be comfortable.

It has to be compatible with a decent amount of games... Valve on board?

After spending £250 on a VR920 - well the Oculus could be pink with pictures of Hello Kitty for all I care!
Imagine a mech combat game, or a flight simulator, or a racing game... a game that has the player sitting down is ideal - I can certainly see why the idea of VR is still puzzling given the lack of domestic walk simulation - but people need to forgo ideas of first person shooters and sports games etc. I mean, have you seen what some simulator fans do to build their own rigs? - 3 flat screens mounted on moving platforms... now take the Oculus rift instead, giving full 360 degree, 3D visuals. It doesn't matter if walking is still an issue, if you don't intend to walk. I have a little PS3 Gran Turismo rig setup in a cupboard, basically a good gaming seat and wheel and pedal set, flat screen. If I could add in an Oculus, then it'd be fricken amazing, and it's already pretty cool.
I'll be getting one - I don't care about the PS4 or Xbox720 or anything Nintendo is upto - I just want a good VR headset for playing non-fps games, simulators, racing and flight games. Hell, this might even encourage more developers to make some combat flight sims for a change, we all know how thin on the ground they are these days.

I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more memes.
