I'm confused as to the tools I need to create a 3D world. I need to create both indoor and outdoor enviornments. I own TrueSpace 5.2. Is this tool sufficient and optimal? If not then what is the difference between the following tools:

1. Cartography Shop
2. Mesh Edit
3. A BSP editor (not sure what a BSP is and how it differs from a mesh)
4. who knows (you fill in the blank)

I'd appreciate any clarification from you folks. Thanks.

a BSP editor is used to create Halflife/Quake-like Levels. There is a free one called Valve Hammer Editor 3.4 that quite a few people here (including myself) use. The are a few bugs here and there in dbp regarding bsp's but nothing too detremental (imho). If you plan to use it I would suggest reading the Ultimate BSP Thread in the 3d Forum on this site.

hopefully others can answer your other questions
good luck
