Well I had a nightmare of a day. My three year old who likes to play with my computer, he has a few kids games on it. You know find the red triangle type stuff. Usually I am there with him, he has the tendency to be a "windows explorer" to put it lightly. Well he was playing his game. I took a rather important call cand wasn't paying attention to what my son was doing. Well he managed to open system restore and restored my computer to it's factory settings.

What was lost?

Freaking everthing!

Lets see

Fpsc full version
All of my maps
All my games both finished and otherwise
All my custom scripts
All model packs of which I had collected most of them
probably 200 dollars worth of tgc store purchases
custom media both downloaded and my own
all my Blender files
my entity, segment,decal makers
shader map pro
Fraps full
ps6
Dark Shader
all of my custom shaders

Just to list my Fpsc related stuff.

Now the good news?
I have most of it backed up on a ext HD

the cloud to the silver lining?
I lent my wife my Ext HD so she could get some pictures off of it. Now no computer I have access to recongnizes it.

Ok after all of that if there is any good that came out of it all. Though my computer was whiped clean. I did take the opportunity to updat my Bios.

Oh and I can't find my fps disk. I've moved twice since the last time I needed it.

Hey Troutflies All right, you got your bios updated
You should be able to find a puter somewhere that recognizes your HD, no? Your wife's, is it a laptop? I had to do something similar
recently to pull my files off my backup HD. You'll think of something I'm sure.
best luck

This type of thing is awful when it happens! As i was reading, i thought to myself, I really need to back everything up on my PC! I have two kids and Wife that likes to pretend she knows what she is doing. **MUST BACK UP**

At least some good will come from this! People reading will take heed and back up there data.

On a side note, can you not download FPSC from your purchases? If not, i could always make a copy of my disc and send you that? Obviously, you would have to use your own serial. (if that's allowed)

unfamilia,

My wife is the same way. When I got my ASUS G73 I gave her my old HP Pavilion. I did a fresh install of windows before I gave it to her. It was woeking perfectly fine when I gave it to her. Within a week I was trouble shooting Bsods on it. Somehow she managed to just about brick it.

The dilema about the disk. I can just redownload all of the model packs. The problem I am having with the disk is that reloaded comes out in the Fall, or so I have read. To pay $50 now then again in the fall seems silly. I could just wait till fall, but then I will be without the crack that is FPSC. They have the package offer, FPSC full plus a few model packs for $30, but I already have bought those model packs. I tried downloading the trial and putting my serial in the user details, but that didn't work(didn't think it was going to, but it was worth a shot.) I'd take you up on your offer, but I don't want to break any rules. Not sure if I would be or not.

I suppose I could have worse problems.
