So after my disappointment with AppUp *cries like a baby some more* I went looking around at other distribution methods and stumbled across this article from my favorite place, Gamasutra.
http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/RebeccaFernandez/20121115/181717/

It neatly describes a few different distributors and I'm trying out a couple. One of which (its listed by a different name, not sure which one) is Gameolith. It took under 5 minutes to submit the application for Windows, OS X, and Android.

Something some of you might want to check out.

One that's not mentioned is Amazon. You barely have to do anything to get in other than ensure that your links don't point to Google Play. I'm waiting for approval now, but their application process was easy.

Just approved on Amazon yesterday. It was a painless process. Just make sure to remove your references to Google Play

So the Amazon version is basically the Android one?

Do they accept the basic apk package?

Cheers,

Yes, Amazon is an Android app market.
And yes they simply accept the APK package.
It is essentially the same as Google Play except no upfront developer fee (Google Play charges $25). Same transaction split 70-30.
Just reread Markus's post.. looks like Amazon charges you $99 after the first year... So... I guess I'd have to see how my apps are doing and decide whether or not to pull them (hopefully the next one will be worth it).
I've had 1 download in the past 24 hours so... I imagine volume on Amazon is going to be much lower than Google Play.
