Hello my friends. I wanted to throw this out there to get a little feedback. This pack will be available soon. The pack contains around 300 new models, and around 100 pieces of bonus media for landscaping, and mine building.

Many thanks go out to my beta testers ( bless they're hearts) for the days spent going through and checking all the media.

This level was built, (and saved) with no shaders. But all the media in the pack is shader ready.

This was a test game that I put together the other night to test some of the media. So please take a look, and let me know your thoughts.

Game link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jqyu4p1arfkbjho/Wild%20West%20Adventures.7z?v=0rc-c

Thanks guys, hope you like it.

Edit: There is no end level point, the level is for exploration, and media checking, so when your done, just hit "esc" to leave the game.

Be sure to grab a weapon in the general store, or the jail first.

There you go. Sorry, took me a bit to get them ready. Thanks buddy!

There have been many more models added since these shots were made, but you get the idea, And you'll need around 2 GB of free space to install the pack. These are just the entities.

Thanks bro. And I should point that out. Please note that the low texture resolution is due to the texture reduction setting used in the build game. If you want to see what the stuff looks like with shaders, go check out the WIP thread for some screenshots.

Thanks again.

QUITE a change from all the Nazi and Zombie stuff, and a good one at that.

Quote: "Please note that the low texture resolution is due to the texture reduction setting used in the build game"

Oh. I see. I was just going to tell you that, while all parts of the train and all characters are looking great, the blurry textures on the buildings are a letdown.
Btw: I managed to somehow jump into the locomotive's Driver cabin, but was unable to get out of it.
From what I remember from western movies, the overall construction of the buildings seems to be looking quite authentic. The thing that is looking a bit queer to me is that the wooden walls are bordering seemlessly on the bare, earthen ground - no foundation, no curb, no nothing.
Unpainted Wooden parts may also take on a "colourless" greyish colour after being exposed to the bleaching effects of intense sunlight.
But These all are very minor things, your overall idea is great,
as is the implementation up to here.
Will most likely buy the package.

Great pack. I love it. I also love the Good, Bad, and Ugly theme music. I hope that wasn't a spoiler for others.

Being able to go into the grocery store, saloon and jail as well as having stuff in them is way cool as is the livery stable.

The walkway in front of the Dentist office is now allowing the player to walk up and down it from both directions. However, trying to get onto the walkway from the street walkway the player gets stuck. One has to go onto the front walkway from the sides. This is probably because of a bad placement of the building next to the town walkway planks.

I'll be emailing you on at least one issue, the other issues I had are something that are problematic with other models and need to be taken care of in the level design.

LOL, I didn't know you could even get into it at all.

Thare is a platform segment included that can be used for the buildings if wanted.

I know that alot of you like the weathered, and grunged look. I do too. But as an artist, I have found that it is far easier to de-saturate, and grunge clean textures, than to try and clean up grunged, or color pale, colorless ones. You of course can alter the textures any way you like to suit your needs. Also consider that if you lived back then, everything would be clean and new.

That is why I release models with a semi-clean look. They are way easier to tweak them.

Thanks for the comments, my friend.

Great stuff as with all your packs, the only thing is this error, when i reload the colt navy gold.

I'm not sure if it is just me or an error, but amazing work otherwise.

Flatlander: Thanks for pointing that out. I know the level design is not the best, and I could have spent more time on it, but as I said, this was something I slapped together in a night, for testing purposes.

Glad you liked it anyway. I'm sure there are better level designers out there than I, and can't wait myself, to see this stuff put to use in a proper game.

Tomahawk: Already been fixed, in both versions. Thanks.

No, I understand that you just slapped it together. I just wanted to make sure others knew certain issues like getting stuck in a mesh or not being able to move forward when one thinks they should is something that can be fixed through some re-arranging or by other means and it is not necessarily the models fault and more than likely can't be fixed anyway.

Tomahawk, pointed out what I was going to email you about. Glad it's fixed. Now just waiting for the release. I did use the guns that were available. Did the shoot out at the OK Corral and the saloon fight.

Here's an interesting tidbit about tumbleweeds found in a comic strip.

Hope so! I think Rick will like it enough to let er be an official pack. It will, of course be available at Northern Fox as well. The pricing will most likely be the same, or at least a few cents difference one way or the other.

How true. Well you all can be sure that we've gone through everything more than once, and if there are any issues that should be fixed they will be. And after release if there are any requests for specific items, I can add those to the "Civil War" expansion pack. OOOPS!

Couple of issues I came across were:

1/. I had trouble climbing the Dentist stairs and had to move around a lot to climb them.

2/. The horses front feet moved around a lot then stretched and shrank as the horse lowered it's head.

3/. perhaps have some sort of 'black tunnel' shape to place in the railway tunnel so it looks like it's going into darkness.

Apart from these (and the issues already mentioned) this looks like another awesome pack CP.

Ok, That's the same building Flatlander commented on. I'm going to have another look at that one. I bet if I saved it in 3 seperate parts, Building, steps, and the overhang, That will fix the collision issues with that one. I believe the engine is having trouble calculating proper collision due to the complexity of the overall mesh.

The Black wall for the tunnel is a good idea, I'll throw that in.

I have updates of the horses from Starmind, who did the animations for the riders, horses, and weapons. I'll check the updates to see if the issue is still present.

Thanks Bud. That's why I wanted to do this thread, to get any last minute issues addressed before release.

And yet I have no issue with the building and stairs at all...

Anyways, nice work on the pack. You and Willow did a great job pulling this off and should be proud.

I have been waiting for this one since it was announced! Great demo The only problems I had were the same ones everyone else had.I did however find one by doing the despicable thing. Upon shooting bystanders they had sparks fly off them instead of blood. Blood however did hit the walls. Severely looking forward to this becoming an official pack!

Hi George, That fix was sent to Mike the other day, so no worries they will all bleed bright shiny red. But see, this is great. one person, looks at different things, other than someone else.

I believe Between the 2 of us, we've got this genra pretty much covered. I should hijack you to help out on the Civil War expansion if your up for it. Have you got enough coffee?

You can tweak and adjust it three ways til Sunday and still someone will most likely have an issue somewhere. With the different versions of FPSC currently running, each engine seems to handle collision and such different. Where people using a piece of media in v1.20 have an issue, we never get it in our version. Just keep that in mind when you decide to spend even more time attempting to please the masses. What may work out for some may not for others- you will have to find the happy "middle ground".

Quote: "I believe Between the 2 of us, we've got this genra pretty much covered."

To be honest, both your pack here and George's Wild West Packs give enough to make a complete game- we know because we have already documented a complete 10 level game and are getting the core of it started in some free time (what little we have). If you do an "expansion pack" (like you did with Country Time), that would really open some more ideas.

Hi Mike. You are also right, as we've discussed this, and seen this is truly the case. But you know me, I want it all to be just right. well,... I try anyway.

Yeah, See I was going to do some period war stuff for this one, but thought It would make a nice expansion to this pack, and have enough media to stand on it's own as a smaller model pack.

North, and South military characters a few more period weapons, cannons, a frontier fort, more indians, and mexicans. We could even do the Alamo.

So an expansion it will be.

LOL, the pack isn't even out yet, and you've started a new game already? Gotta love that!

That's the must buy thing, to say it's truly impressive! Such an amount of neat models!

Issues often happen when you work with FPSC, so some glitches and freezes are usual because of the engine.

Thanks MaximSokol.

Did anyone check out the dynamite? It's in the Blacksmith building. Starmind did a great job on that. I think he did a winter breath animation that would look cool with this, as it would appear as if your actualy smoking the cigar.

And let me send a special thank you to my honey "Willow" for all the lamps, plants, her general store items, and stables, etc. she really went all out, and did a great job. Thanks Baby.

She said I can use any money we make, to get that brain operation everyone keeps telling me I need.

Well, time for bed. Gotta get up early and pester Blackfox with more models.

OH Yes, the dynamite. Love it. People got to try it. I will not do a spoiler but you have to throw it at least once.

I need to say that I absolutely love the layout of your town. Great design in that respect. And yes the detail. I think I might have mentioned it before but thank you Willow for all that detail. That's what makes a game even better. Also, you can set it up through scripting to buy stuff from the store and even in the saloon make it so the player has to pay for a drink.

Either coming up with an inventory system in FPSC or with my mod you can have the player buy and sale. It would take some work and time but well worth it.

I must say Cosmic, this demo was a pure joy to play (several times)! Had an epic feel to it. Love the music, loading screens, well thought out.
The dynamite was the best. All I wanted to do was blowup the water tower.

Mexicans ? OMG.... To me, in any decent western movie, there's nothing better than a fat grinning Mexican Bandit Boss, all dressed in gold laced black, announcing the atrocities he's going to perform on the hero or the hero's squeeze while puffing the smoke of his exquisite cigarillo, one foot on the fence, sparkling silver spurs the size of saucers on his boots.

Wow just tested this out and it does have a few issues like the gun has no reload sound and no flak.

Plus if you have only two bullets it still loads 6 but only shows the 2.

All in all a good pack.

Wow thats an old version of vishnu you using there but it worked fine in windows 8 no problem.

Guys, everything I have is old. And I mean everything!

Yeah, I tried to find a good open source reload sound for the 6 shooters. but failed. So I'll have to leave that up to you guys to use one from a gun you already own.

I should upgrade my Vishnu though. Thanks.
