I have attached an object that i am trying to load. At first it said cannot load 3d. then i just started getting a not responding error. I have attached the file.

only .x and .dbo formats are fuly supported.

.3ds may and may not work, you obviously found one which doesn't work

Yes, official 3ds support was dropped years ago.
