Fps-files.com was a big part of the FPSC community. With it gone now, it makes it harder to find free entities, segments, etc.

I didn't want this to happen, and in a attempt to help users, I decided to create a clone website of fps-files.

Note that the domain is a free subdomain and in time it will be changed.

This website is an experimental site. By experimental I wanted to see how this website would do. Would it have enough traffic or uploads? If this site does not generate enough activity, it will be taken down.

Here is the test site - fpsfiles.com.nu
Like I said, this free subdomain will be changed if this website is successful in enough uploads and traffic.

You can upload my free segments, http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=205286&b=24. Thanks for the new site hopefully this will help save all the midea that was on the original one. I have just got FPSC about a year ago and found a lot of websites that had programs on them done and the programs now where to be found.

http://www.trendmicro.co.uk/ This reported me that your site is dangerous. Where do you host your site at?

Good luck with this, maintaining such site is alot of work!

I didn't see any security risks, but I don't use that software.

You can host my old signs if you like, they are available on Northern Fox as well. - link to the forum thread

Best of luck with this.

One thing you should be aware of is that you cant just take the site as is, you will need to ask permission from all the media creators who had work hosted on the previous fpsfiles, I am sure most would be happy to let you take up the mantle but its a requirement if changing hands. As far as I am concerned it wont be an issue but others might not agree with it.

For instance if you were to require registration of any sort before allowing access to free media I would not give permission.

Same here.

As far as I know, Northern Fox Media is the only one who currently has permission to host my files, and the only place you will (should) find them. If you wish to host any of my content (as cheesy as it may be) please get permission from the Fox.

If on the other hand (after looking at your site) you are just taking content as artists upload it, then ....never mind.

I have to tell you though that just allowing others to upload their content will never get you where you want to go. You're going to have to put time and effort into getting the content on there yourself like the rest of us did. When I did it, I didn't even have an upload for artists. I tracked down the content on the forum, got permission to host it, and put it on the site myself. I used Google ads to make a little money from the traffic and it covered the hosting cost, not the time and work involved, but I did enjoy building it up for a while.

Good luck!

Brian.

That is odd. I have nothing that can be harmful on my site. My host is x10premium, and this could be because of the domain. But, I can assure you, it is safe.

I'm not the one that will upload all the files. In fact, I most likely will not upload any files. I leave this up to the community.

@rolfy and @xplosys
Sorry, I don't fully understand what you mean.

No, guests have full access to all uploads. The only time you would need to register, is if someone decides to upload a file.

If you were to simply transfer all media from fps-files to your own you would lack the permission to host them. Templar1,xplosys and Blackfox all requested permission to host these files.

Since it appears you are only allowing users to upload their own media it's no problem but you will need to be careful they are uploading media created by THEM and not simply something they found on the forum or online.

If someone were to do so you will likely be the one held responsible, it's not an easy task and one which will eat up your time keeping on top of it.
The way it's been done by others around here at least ensured they had control over what was put on the site, you should consider a vetting procedure which stops files instantly being accessible before they are available for download.

Best of luck with this.

@rolfy
I understand now. All uploads await approval from the admin before it is published on the website.

Also, included in the submission form are several fields the user must fill out. I believe these fields will add a tad bit more security.

You're welcome.. although as has been pointed out, Northern Fox do already run a very comprehensive media site, although I'm sure they won't mind some competiion

Good luck with this.

Thank you. I wouldn't say I have a better setup, your site was all made by you, and that makes it a whole lot better.

Good luck on your website
