Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back for Terminator 5. Shooting begins January 2014

Quote: "Following news earlier this week that Paramount will be distributing Terminator 5, Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that he’ll be starring in the film and shooting will begin early next year.

Here’s what the actor told ArnoldFans.com:

In fact, I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star AS the Terminator, which we start shooting in January and I’m also going to do King Conan – to play that role and also to do another Twins movie. So I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I’m looking forward to doing those films.

Story details on the fifth film haven’t been revealed yet. Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures (Zero Dark Thirty, The Master) picked up the rights to the franchise a few years ago and will be putting them to use before they revert back to James Cameron in 2019. There’s room for at least two movies in that time, but first Terminator 5 need a director. Justin Lin was originally attached but he had to focus on Fast and the Furious 6. Could his recent departure from that franchise mean he’s back in contention for Terminator 5?

Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) and Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) are working on the script, and with an early 2014 shoot planned we should be hearing a lot more information in the near future."

Hmm... the IMDB states that James Cameron is directing.

Anyhow it will be great to see how it turns out.

As he said in 'Last Action Hero'... "Big mistake!" Of course, they can do a lot with CGI these days so maybe it won't be so bad. Why do they never know when to quit?

I must've missed something in the past year or two, but I don't recall a Terminator 4 yet.

He's a robot so if they just 3D model him he should last forever.

I don't mind continuations of movie series. They can be mildly entertaining. I'm not a big movie critic though, so maybe I just don't mind. Honestly the story doesn't matter that much to me (I mean, it has to be at least "acceptable" but it doesn't have to be fantastic). I'm more concerned about the acting feeling realistic. If I can't get immersed into the movie then it's not a good movie to me.

But I digress. The point I'm trying to make is that some series can benefit from expansion. I think what Marvell did with the Avengers and how they're trying to get the whole universe into film is cool.

Besides, what does another sequel take away from the original movies anyway? If the sequel is popular enough it could boost views of the originals. If you're a fan then I assume that's a good thing.

This is a bit longer than I intended for it to be so I'll cut off about here. Cheers!

Indeed! Look at Star Trek and Batman! Good things can come out of sequels/reboots.

Which is why I'm pretty excited for a new Star Wars movie. It doesn't have to be terrible!

Hopefully it's set in the post-apocalyptic war. It could be a cool setting that Salvation lightly touched upon. Salvation was almost immediately after Judgement Day, so the tech was still post-modern. Would be cool to see things evolve in the future.

I bet I can guess the next storyline. Just in case I am right, I have put it in code so as it is not a spoiler...

Quote: "The latest instalment in the Terminator franchise will be the first in a stand-alone "rebooted" trilogy.

Paramount Pictures said the fifth Terminator film, based on the original series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is due to be released in June 2015.

There was no official confirmation on who would direct or star in the forthcoming film.

However Schwarzenegger revealed earlier this month he would be returning to the role that made him a household name."
