Gamespot as a respective source:

Quote: "Recent client beta suggests update that will allow users to lend titles to other people on their friend list.
A few lines of code in the latest Steam client beta suggests that Steam users may be able to share their games with other users on their friends list.

If the reports are confirmed, PC users will be able to share their Steam games.
According to a post from Neogaf by user "Grief.exe", the discovered lines of code suggest that users may eventually be able to loan out games in their library and take them back at any time. The relevant code of text from the client are as follows:

"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicense_Title" "Shared game library"
"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicenseLocked_OwnerText" "Just so you know, your games are currently in use by %borrower%. Playing now will send %borrower% a notice that it's time to quit."
"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicenseLocked_BorrowerText" "This shared game is currently unavailable. Please try again later or buy this game for your own library."

There is currently no word on how Valve will handle this among third-party publishers."

edit: now Microsoft allows to share games on new Xbox. I hope Steam will follow...

Initially I didn't like this idea but it's actually pretty smart. Being booted out of a game because your friend wants to play is a good motivation to buy your own copy. I can see some arguments between friends though lol "Come on dude! Just five more minutes! PLEEAAAAASEE!"

The difficulty in learning is not acquiring new knowledge but relinquishing the old.

Xbox took it (digital sharing) away because they wanted revenge, er, I mean fairness.

UPDATE: sorry, I don't have time to find english source, so here is Google Translate:

Quote: "Valve shared a kind of sensational news, which is able to please all players who prefer to play on the computer. All users of digital distribution service Steam will be able to share your library of games with your friends for free. A new feature called Family Sharing, and its closed beta will begin next week.

It is logical that the amount of money that is lent games friends will be limited - access to their game database can be open only for ten computers. Your "guests" will be able to easily play your purchased games and save your user information - game settings, progress and much more.

Here's how to comment on the news in the most Valve: "Our users have long expressed a desire to get the opportunity to share the games on Steam in the same way as they can do it with movies, books and games bought in stores. Finally we decided to give them that opportunity - said Anna Sweet, Business Development Manager at Valve. - But I must point out that you can not get access to a library other, if it is already occupied by someone else.""
