***NEW SCREENSHOTS BELOW!!! SCROLL DOWN!!!!****

here's some screens from my alienware entry... it's a 3D UFO-Catcher like you would find in a video game arcade. All of the prizes are Alienware-themed.

The engine is almost complete, I just need some fine tuning, and hopefully some input from everyone here!

p.s. if you can't see the images, click on the link at the bottom to go the the webpage. ANY AND ALL COMMENTS WELCOME!!!

This has to be the most unique entry I've seen. Looks very polished also.

Nice work.

Looks really cool. Is it going to be any more complicated than the actual arcade game?

nope, his is more original
got a month left walabe, you could go down the arcade with your digital cam and take a pic of one of those machines ... edit up the texture so it fits onto your machine.
perhaps give the ui a less bevel look.

^_^ definately looks promising

raven- yeah, bevels are easy in photoshop, so I tend to use them for everything.

thanx for the comments everybody- hopefully I can release a demo before the deadline to get some feedback from the game on different machines.

I hope I have time to improve the textures (especially on the cabinet) and add some nice sound-effects. plus the background is pretty bland right now.

Anyway keep those comments coming!

I recon you should add a two player mode where you have to race for the prizes

^_^ well just a personal preference about the bevel. i prefer more plain UI's rather than 3Dish.

still look forward to the demo

But you can say that to yourself if you want to.

worked a lot on the game today... did a lot of adjusting the code so that everything runs smoothly and evenly regardless of system speed...

also added several new features (power ups if you will) which will make the game more interesting. After all, it's just a 3D ufo-catcher... there's not a whole lot to keep you coming back for more... so today I came up with some fun additions that I think will make the game more fun.

more details when I get some screenshots that reflect the new changes.

anyone have any ideas for a background? The whole starfield thing seems a bit overdone. But I also don't want to waste too many polys... anyone? anyone? Bueller?

alien bar or arcade? aliens walking around in the background, sitting at the bar, talking, playing other games etc you could make everything low poly but you'd have to keep the number of aliens to a minimum, say 2-3.

nice game by the way, very original!

HexGear: that's a pretty cool idea... I like the bar idea particularly... now I really wish I had Cartography shop, it would make something like that a hell of a lot easier. I'm using mostly free tools to make the game (anim8or, LithUnwrap) so I don't have any way to make nice, lightmapped rooms

hmmmm..... I'll have to think on that one...

by the way the actual game will have much more interesting layouts for the toys... I have a layout-editor I made all finished, I'm just using simple layouts for testing purposes.

NEW SCREENIES for everyone!

I`ve update a lot on the game... first a screenshot showing what the toy layouts should look like..

now a shot showing my new "Slot Machine" addition.

You play the slot machine to activate different "Power Ups", like the "LIGHTS OUT!" power up shown here:

Here's another toy up close:

And finally another screen shot, notice the icons at the bottom update as you win the various toys:

Please give me any and all comments!
