Hi guys,

I'm getting to grips with my new mac, and have been running the App Game Kit Tier 1 IDE happily on Mac OS X Mountain Lion for a couple of days here. Watch the video below, and you can see it running yourselves.

I'm running on apples lowest specification current generation hardware, 2.5GHZ i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB 5200RPM HDD, Intel HD 4000 graphics.

I personally prefer VMWare Fusion (i paid it 40 or 50€ .. don't remember) on Mac which has a very good OpenGL Support which permits to run 2D/3D games as almost native speed

NO NO NO NO NO !!! this is not how you do it! NO!
i am super pissed of at you Daniel for posting this as alot of ppl will now try this , this is the wrong method to run any kind of Windows App on a Mac Machine.

and this is the right way:

Using Wine

Wine is compatible with all of Mac OS no matter what version your on , as long as you have an Intel Base Mac it will work.
i also got the Mac Mini(lowest Apple has to offer) and it work flawlessly and incredible fast.
the idea behind Wine is:
you are not really virtualizing anything , all you do is integrate the important stuff of windows into your Mac Machine with 3 or 4 tools.

so actually what you get in the end is :
C:\Windows\System
c:\Windows\System32
C:\Program Files\ <- your programs

this means that there is no Virtual Stuff , its all Legit like Windows and it all runs like Windows , so you don't lose any resource for using it .

all the tools are completely free and simple to use and even i that i have never used mac before i installed AppGameKit in a matter of 2 hours where most of the time about 1.45 hours the Mac Terminal Downloaded Wine Windows stuff... so basically i did it in 15 minutes.

this is a link to the tutorial :

...................................................................

Dear community , please do not use the above method shown by Daniel as it is slow and will drain your mac .
Wine is the most and best solution of running Windows Apps on your Mac.

the only problem im experiencing with is , that Ctrl+V dose not work and crushes AppGameKit tier 1.

sorry if i was kinda harsh , but i just posted this a few days ago.. and Virtual Machine is never good especially not for developers.

Wine doesn't work for me, I got a big bunch of random looking errors. In addition to this Wine is open source, so there's no support. Parallels just works, I've put it through it's paces for a few days without any issues so far. You might not be very happy about this, but the simple truth is I've tried wine on various nix distributions for many many years and it always comes up short.

look at my tutorial , i got the same Mac as you...
when i first tried to install i was missing .Net and one other thing
and when i tried to instal AppGameKit it got all kind of errors

this tutorial that i published is very detailed and it will even show you what errors you will get if you wont install these stuff..

apperently most of windows app will work just fine without any additions .. but AppGameKit needs these 2 , .Net and the other thing mentioned there just below the .Net .. well actually i dont really know if .Net is needed but i installed it anyway...
and it works..

please try Daniel , the Virtualization is not very good and works slow which is something you dont want.. my current project is currently about 10,000 lines of code and it compiles it in less then 2 seconds with Mac Mini (Lowest) same as yours , and it runs on 61 fps..

if we both have the same Mac Mini there sholdnot be a problem with it. just follow the instructions and see for yourself .. then do a test what works faster , i assure you its Wine.

I'm sure it is, still doesn't work though. Perhaps it's different system updates or something else I've installed is causing problems.

Either way Parallels just works, and it just works on all my software. It's running DBPro, FPSC, Classic, as well as providing android, ubuntu and google chrome OS's.

I may have done something wrong, or it might be something else. I don't know and I can't afford a protracted troubleshooting process right now. I might revisit this in future, but for the moment "parallels just works" and that's what I need given my current work load.

i'll give it a go sometime, but it won't be the near future. As I have a working solution for the moment it's not going to be a high priority sorry. You are more than welcome to make your own video demonstrating your copy working and uploaded it. It's pretty easy to screencast on the Mac.
