I can run my game in 1024x768 fullscreen but not 1280x720 fullscreen, and the last resolution is what the game is designed around. It runs real smooth in 1024x768 and real choppy in 1280x720 windowed fulldesktop :-( Is there no way to get the thing running fullscreen at my desired resolution? Last resort will be porting the whole thing to something where I can get it running smooth but I really don't wanna do that as I have been working on this for over a year now.

You can speed the game up by removing polygons, lowering textures, changing the colours to 256 paletted. I make all of my games...1024x768 anyway.

What exactly is the problem? Did you try to select 1280x720 fullscreen using your IDE, or via set display mode? Is there an error message? And what exactly do you mean by "choppy", does the FPS count go down significantly? Is there screen tearing? Or anything else?
Have you tried running it in 1280x720 fullscreen on different PCs/with different monitors?

Sorry for bringing up that many questions, but I sensed a slight lack of information here...

@Pincho Paxton: I have no polygons, no textures. I only have a2text and a2drawimage (from Advanced 2D plugin)

@ShellfishGames: I have tried both IDE, set display command and window off command. There used to be an error message stating the images was missing, now there is just a black screen. By choppy I mean it didn't run as smooth, there is a lot of 2D scrolling and the scrolling was not so smooth in windowed fulldesktop but it was in fullscreen (when set to 1024x768). I have tried a few PC's with different setups but I will test it a bit more because as it turns out fullscreen is now working on the laptop that I am working on at the moment But I want it to run in fullscreen on all setups, now hassle for the user :-P

You have to call set display mode right at the beginning of your program. As far as I know, it deletes all the images etc. from the VRAM which would explain error messages regarding missing images.
Not sure about the black screen though. Maybe you're using some kind of "if image exist(ID) then a2drawimage(ID,...)" check now, so the non-existent images are not drawn?

Regarding the alt + tab issue, have you used the command: disable system keys?

I guess what he means is that when he ALT-TABs out of the game it will crash as soon as he reopens it. At least that's what kept happening to me everytime I used set window off. For some reason you seem to have to load all the images again after the application has been minimized... not sure if there's a way around it.

To make sure it doesn't crash from alt+tab you can use this:

Okay, now I have two different computers I can test my game on. One computer runs fine in fullscreen and the other does not. What good will it do that only some users will be able to run the game satisfying, or even run it at all?
So I am thinking of porting the whole thing to AGK. I have heard that you can use the same code. Is it fairly easy to convert the game to AppGameKit if I discard all 3rd party plugins? Does AppGameKit have similar errors that have never/not yet been corrected?

Is the second computer able to handle the resolution in fullscreen? That could be the issue.

I just tested Torchlight 2 in fullscreen 1280x720 on this computer (which is the one that the game won't run on in fullscreen 1280x720) and it ran fine.

I have ran into this same exact problem. Turns out that you need to know if its NVidia, Intel or AMD graphics card. Each handles it differently. How I solved it, is I do a scan of "What does the graphics card handle" and put it all to an array. Then when it comes to full screen, I set it to find the closest allowable resolution. Turns out that DBPro doesn't handle the graphics card resolutions properly. Seems that certain sizes never match up for all video cards with your program window size.

What video card you using on both computers ?

@TheKid: It won't run on all machines in fullscreen resolution 1280x720 which is what the game is build around On some machines it crash, on some others it doesn't :-P I was hoping for a solution to fix this but there seems to be none so now I am using PlayBASIC instead

@Cybermind:

I don't know why you're having the full window issue. check if the display mode fits the screen resolution and mainly the memory.

I have my media player made using DBpro and approved by intel to work on all windows platforms.
