I am attempting my first large project using DarkGDK. I want to use Advanced Terrain with levels built with FPS Creator. My heightmap is a 256x256 pixel, 24-bit grayscale image. The scaling for the x and z plain is 128 this should give a terrain object size of 32768. However, the Object Size functions are showing the size at 32256. What I need to do is move the terrain by minus the z size to coincide with the FPS Creator map. Position Object TERID, 0, 0, -32256 will set the terrain where it should be but Get Terrain Ground Height(TERID, 0, 0) seems to be off on the z-axis by the difference in the expected size and the actual size of the terrain.

I’m posting here because this board is more active and I am prototyping-using DBPro.

Thanks.

Do you mean size or position? The rest of your post suggests you meant the latter.

I've never tried moving an Advanced Terrain object so I can see this might be an issue. If the behaviour is consistent then at least you have a solution available.

On your first issue, that's one of the reasons I stopped using Advanced Terrain and started building my own terrains from scratch with a grid of high poly plains as limbs (using IanM's Matrix1 version of make object plain - there was talk of him converting his utilities to DGDK but I don't recall the outcome ).

Thanks, GG

That is correct.

In the last year, I have been heavily studying 3D Graphics Math, DirectX Programming and studying the DBPro and DarkGDK, Dll and Library source code. So coming up with an alternative should be no problem. I was just hoping someone may have had this experience and had a solution.

Thanks.

Minus the terrain offset from the position when using the get ground height command. AT retains the original positions when using the height commands. (I believe)

I assumed he realised that but perhaps I was wrong.

I tried to flag the above spammer comment, but the reason "he is a spammer" isn't long enough.

Sorry guys, been afk for a few days.

After further testing, this works perfectly. The height function is offset as well. I was confused by an irrelevant issue with AT.

Thanks again.
