Please! - no EC videos, those guys grate on my nerves something rotten. I'll sum up that video:
* Touch screen controls aren't as good as a joypad, keyboard, or mouse.
* Don't design a game that plays best with dual move and aim controls, make an Angry Birds clone instead.
* Use all manor of swipe, tap, pinch control schemes but don't let them take up screen space.
The #1 rule that all mobile game developers forget, is that gamers evolve - mobile gamers get used to virtual analogue sticks and control pads. It's up to the developer to make sure that it works well, we can't keep assuming that virtual analogue = bad, but swipey gestures = good, because there needs to be variety, and options, and common sense. We have to be able to tweak things and have alternative control methods whenever possible.
I'd go as far as to say that maybe the new control scheme in The Drowning, should have been turn based. Like - tap where you want to run to, pick your targets, then see how it plays out. I just don't think it's effective in a game where your trying to shoot heads and being surrounded, all in a game where you need to be moving and killing the whole time.
Try the game, see for yourself which control scheme you prefer - all you have to loose is a couple gig storage space

I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more memes.
