Hi all,
I get many emails saying about fpsc not running on there machine or on other people's machines so I decided to make a simple app that checks if they have the right direct x9 installed and if not takes them to microsoft site download page for the right direct x they need to run fpsc.

This is at beta stage and is for testing at the moment but this could be made better if there a lot of interest for it.

Any ideas where you like to see this go would be a bonus to the development of this little project.

Please note that it will say your system is compatible please wait but will do nothing just close the program this is for future features.

Link to direct x
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Also feedback if it works or not.

The idea will be that the program will do full compatible check before running your game.

Hey that's neat. Thanks S4real.
This should come in handy when needed.

Maybe check for Graphics compatibility? I'm not sure where you want to go with this. But I do see I lot of people/threads having problems when A laptop is involved(integrated graphic chipset).
Seems a lot of incompatibility out there?

Anyway, I tested it. Works great! Maybe someone can test it on a
know non-compatible machine?

Nice app. Ran it on the wife's laptop (Vista), my laptop (Win7 64 bit), main desktop (Win7 32 bit), and second desktop (Win XP). Even took it into VMWare and ran in XP (VM) to ensure it does check, since I have a VM with no DirectX.

I did notice that it says "Your system is compatible please wait"... So I wait, and I wait, and I pour a coffee, and I wait, and then I close it (after I finish my coffee). LOL.

Perhaps you could have a "timer" so after X seconds the app closes. Or remove the "please wait" at the end of "Your system is compatible". Otherwise the "younger" people not "computer-savvy" will be confused and wonder why it is taking so long. At least I had my coffee to keep me waiting.

Otherwise, all good.

There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.

Very useful app, downloaded. I agree with the points BlackFox made. I knew there were some issues with Directx9 not being installed on some systems, but don't most have them anyway?

Also I noticed that I could click into the app and type/delete text. I understand its still being developed, but thought I should mention.

I'll say again how useful this is. It will save so many issues with compatibility for game releases. Thanks s4real

Hi S4,

I got my hands on a system that has the respective Problem. It runs Win7 service pack 1 32bit.

Your checker says "System is compatible". Game didnt start.

I afterwards installed manually every single DirectX from 2006 untill now, I installed the latest VC redist, I added the files you sent to me via mail, and I even installed the Free versions of DBro and FPSC.

It did not resolve the problem. The tool still says "comatible"

Here is the crash detail:

@BlackFox :- The please wait is for you to have time to have a coffee before doing anything else lol
@ncmako :- Yes this will prob end up being a new tool for your games to do a check before your exe.

@Burger :- Thanks for the info yes this would be changed before a proper release.

@Ertlov :- Could we have the full specs of the machine tested your exe in your post and worked fine in windows 8 64bit and windows 7 for me.

Thanks everyone for the feedback

It does not work on win8 x32 bit.

It is stuck in "your system is compatible, please wait" I wait one hour, but nothing happens.

Make this forum to something a little bit better and release more stuff. So we can push the Request/NoobHelp threads aside.
