I'm sure many of you have seen the upcoming release called OutLast on Steam. It's a survival horror game that really gets close to reality by utilizing this amazing night vision/blurred video effect (the ones you see on ghost hunter shows )

I've been away from these forums for so long, so I don't know what FPSC is capable of anymore but I'd love to start developing a game like this.

Can some people point me in the right direction? I've done forum searches but can't seem to find anything solid. Maybe I'm just missing a goldmine of information or something. Really looking for a solid flashlight/nightvision deal. Also - I saw someone on here developing a shader that degrades the light quality to look like it's on crappy VHS tape. Is that out yet, or even a thing yet?

Sorry for the dumb questions! I'm tempted to just wait for Reloaded to come out before even trying to develop anything like this.

Lol looks like about 3 months would call that long.

Yes you can do all these effects with shaders in the latest versions.

You even get the scripts and shaders for blur and night vision with the latest updates.

He was a funny man and I enjoyed reading his posts. Can't believe that was over 2 years ago now.

My bad - Anyway.

on topic, Aaron. Outlast is a game where you must hide, peak and run from enemies, whilst encountering jumpscares with creepy sounds... It's a new genre that's becoming cliche pretty quick. It started with Slenderman and Amnesia, and it's starting to get a bit old.

It is possible in the current Engine, with a lot of scripting and animating. You'd problably have to make some sort of path-finding AI and "Hiding" spots where the AI can't look for. It would take a lot of scripting effort, but I believe it would be possible.
