Try the Save Object command. The terrain may not perform as well if you do this though (I think that's because there won't be proper culling or anything).

Hmm. It's been a while .

Hi there.

As mentioned, you could save object as a normal object, but just as Dbo, but it is not worth converting terrain to object, because it lose the properties of being detected with advanced terrain commands, and as Sixty Squares said, the terrain may not perform properly . If we try to save as .x converting first to mesh, will have an error, 3D memory error if it has many polys. We have better to split the terrain in several chunks and save separatelly.

There is a Save Terrain command in the Advanced Terrain help files:
SAVE TERRAIN Filename, Terrain ID
The help files state that the default extension is .DBT. They were first published prior to the advent of the .dbo format, and I think you need to use .dbo as the extension. The subsequent Load Terrain command has similar format:
LOAD TERRAIN Filename, Terrain ID

Is that not for the terrain commands, rather than the advanced terrain ones?

It's in the Advanced Terrain help files, oddly enough republished by Sixty Squares:

He has apparently joined the elder group of forum members who have posted here, and who are entitled to be forgetful at times, in that his post above suggests that he didn't remember that he published them.

You obviously spotted the reason for the vagueness of my earlier reply.
