There is two official DBP IDE, the old one, now unavaliable (only if you have old DBP setup) and the new one. The new one is good as editor, the old one compiles .dbpro properties correctly. For the old one, try here.

Indigo is quite a nice editor, written by a forumite: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&b=5&t=176316&p=0

The best feature is that it is portable.

I\'m going to try some of these. I have about 50,000 lines of code (150,000 with editors etc) and I find the new IDE lags when typing. I also find that the function list in the project explorer window is glitchy.

Content Management...
I want to have some version control too. I\'m having difficulty managing things between working from multiple computers. I don\'t think I want to setup a full CVS, but I\'ll probably write a management system myself in DBP. The game content is like 900mb and 11gb with all source files included.

I have all my game and source files stored together. I made a program that automatically packs up all the game files omitting the source files. Then I can copy the 900mb to my laptop to work on the source codes from there. But it sucks copying all if that when 99% of it is unchanged. I\'m gonna make it able to copy just the files that are needed.

Mage, check out SpiderOak for sync'ing files between computers. I donated to Balid's Indigo Editor and requested specific features so that Indigo works well on DBPro projects shared on multiple computers with different workspace directories when such sync'ing applications are used.

Example;

The following directory can be found on your work computer;

C:\Users\Atwork.MAGE\Documents\Personal\DBPro\

The below directory on your home computer;

D:\DBPro\

And one more on your laptop;

C:\Users\DrMAGE\Documents\DBPro

These directories can be sync'd with SpiderOak, and then Indigo can be setup on each computer to use these same directories as a relative directory, so that DBPro Projects work on either computer without any editing of any project or DBA files.

Further to this, SpiderOak keeps backups, and is fully encrypted, and free to use.

Does it support exclusion rules for files and folders?

I store source files with game files in a consistent and organized manner.

For example wearable body armor: models\items\chest\bodyarmor
Then in that folder:
Base.x which is the default object. Any other x files are for variations like male/female.
There's also a "texture" folder with Base.png as the default texture along with others.
There's also an "original" folder where the source files for the particular object are stored.

The default file names are so the game can try to accommodate and recover from missing files.

I would need exclusion rules for "original" folders amongst a few other things since I don't want to sync about 90% of the stuff.

SpiderOak has what's called "Syncs" which can be setup with folders to sync (on the same or other computers) and this also includes file exclusions. You can create as many "Sync" routines as needed. With DBPro, I only exclude .EXE & .TMP.

Think of it as a configurable Dropbox, in that you can setup any number of folders on your computer to backup and sync. It's very cool, especially since Indigo works with "relative" directories making the entire workflow seamless.

This is a good suggestion, thanks for sharing.

Spideroak Sync appears to use the Spideroak Cloud service. I personally won't be settling with a cloud service. It wouldn't be as fast or as secure as a system I could write for my home network.

Not everyone's willing to do that, so I'm sure it'll be invaluable to people.

I was mainly commenting on this thread since I find the current DBPro IDE lags with lots of lines 30,000+
