I know nobody needs this now, but in case anyone picks up on this thread later. The following line in the Inno setup script:

Source: "media\*"; DestDir: "{app}\media";

Should ideally be:

Source: "media\*"; DestDir: "{app}\media"; Flags: recursesubdirs;

This will pick up all subdirectories as well.

Fair enough - I didn't have any sub dirs so the lack of flag didn't affect me. but this is good to know.

BatVink - I thought we agreed that they wanted a polished demo? My app was not complete either but I would hope we are in with a chance of advancing to the next stage.

My demo was not even polished It was more important to get features in I thought, a polished app that does nothing would not be a good idea imo

I'd forgotten about that - I put it down to sleep deprivation!

I may have made the minimum threshold in that case. My target has been to submit something that justifies them sending me the AIO in round 1.

Keep it that way! It can get a bit fiddly with sub-directories. Having said that it's a great way to "skin" your app. Put different versions of the graphics into different folders and simply pick a folder to change the skin.

Thank you so much! With just 20 minutes left I went to build the installer by following the Intel tutorial and I came to realize it uses Visual STUDIO which I don't have. I thought I was completely out of luck, but I found your post and was able to submit with just under 5 minutes left. so Thank You!

Glad it helped. I also tried to follow the Intel guide, but it really didn't help very much. Luckily someone on the code project forum posted their script so I stole that and modified it for my own.

So I owe that guy a beer!

Anyone brave enough too share their YouTube link? I'll post mine when I get home.

Brilliant Matty, I like it.
I love the images with multiple panels...like looking through windows.

I had one thought. It would be great to have a mode where you place your vegetation and it grows really slowly while you keep painting. So you don't really know what the final picture will look like until it has fully grown. Or a mode where you plant your vegetation but it doesn't grow until you click finish.

Another nice entry

I'd love to play it some day on my AIO.

Both worthy contenders...good luck!

Great stuff, guys.

Maybe a few tactical clues would give an extra flip to Motherload?

Looks great Ched80, good luck, I will buy that when it is on the store.

@Batvink - I too would like to slow down the growth a little, it's a compromise, the kids like to see immediate results. I would personally like to be able to plant everything then come back in a few weeks to see how it looks

The other issue is speed, the screen is split into around 100 images. Updating every image every frame would probably be slow. This way, some images are updated for a second or two and it runs pretty fast.

Well done Ched80, great news.

Been a bad week for me, got nowhere in the perceptual competition and now I don't think I am through here. Looks like I'll have to try and sell some apps to make money instead

Good luck with the main prize, and if you don't win it still shows you have a great idea and the app should still do well in the store.

Edit: I am really happy with my Lenovo though, I use it to play my playstation 4 through also, which is a great added bonus

Cheers Matty, I'm loving the Lenovo too, I bought a USB DVD drive as the lack of optical drive was slightly frustrating.

I run my RaspberryPi through mine too

Congrats Ched Lets hope you go all the way.

I'm enjoying the Lenovo, other than it being a little slower than my older machines (8 month old i7 and a much older i5 desktop). It makes a huge difference when composing videos and other intensive stuff. It's a pity there is no way to extend with an SSD Operating System partition.

Very cool apps and congrats, guys! Although the full results haven't yet been published (fingers still crossed for you, Ched), I received word the other day that the judges have chosen my entry, Scribblify, as the TOP OVERALL GRAND PRIZE winner ($20,000 USD). Pretty unbelievable, this marks my third big win in a year from these Intel competitions.

Unfortunately, while I did use DBP/AGK for early prototyping of the app, I ultimately decided to build a native HTML5 Web app for my final submission due to a few lacking elements of the stable AppGameKit version.

Wow! congratulations xCept, your app was a worthy winner, I also liked your updated article, very interesting.

Alas I saw that someone else had claimed the games category so I don't think any prizes will be coming my way. To be honest I was just glad for the hardware and getting to the top 5 just a massive cherry on top!

Wow, that's amazing xCept, you have the golden touch in these competitions.

Congratulations, do you have the link to the video? unless you don't want to of course

Thanks Matty, I thought your app was really great and clever too! I didn't realize we had both proposed a painting-styled app but to me it made sense for such a huge touch screen canvas.

Here's my final video...

Congratulations yet again. Let's hope your success encourages Paul to add the bits that stopped you finishing your App in AGK.

Thanks xCept. I still have faith in the concept I proposed even though it never done well here, I plan on finishing the app early next year.

Your video is great, it's a well deserved win. I really need to avoid being in your category in future competitions
