Hey I was wondering if anyone arround the forums has a youtube channel where they show progression with programming or graphic design or anything really for that matter. One of my favorite boards on the forums is the WIP board b/c you get to see projects grow and change through time. It really helps motivate me and give me that boost to keep programming myself. I would really like to subscribe to any channels that post stuff like this even if you don't upload often. I assume no one around here uploads a daily update, but with enough subscriptions. I should have enough to help keep pushing me ahead haha. Also if anyone knows of any good channels that show progress like overgrowth or anything like that?

Well, I'm still actively developing PonyCraft and have been posting update videos, but recent progress hasn't been graphical (XML parser, entity manager, bla bla), so I haven't made videos lately.

I like watching people create special effects and gaming environments in other game engines; it motivates me and gives me free ideas.

I will create a proper YouTube channel for my stuff in November/December. Gotta get my user interface and interoperations ready first.

I quite like Baxlash's WIP: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=205764&b=48

I always want to do one on graphics and modeling...but I've always been too lazy.

Thanks Comet I subbed. Even if you are not currently uploading. I can always go back and view old stuff to give me the boost.

@Chris
That's another reason I enjoy looking at peoples progress. It helps you think outside the box and gives you ideas on how to handle certain situations or how something should operate

Edit:
I'll also follow any blogs that people have. As stated previously. Seeing others do well helps me do well

Not video, but the 3d 'what are you working on' threads are pretty good for people putting up some sustained art progress:

@Ortu Lol I check those out quite often. I basically check everything on the forums apart from the agk showcase which I was just recently introduced to by Chris Tate. I figured all agk users just put there wips on the wip or completed programs boards.

@Chris Lol I didn't even know there was a whole board for agk showcases alone. I've been reading up on a lot of those inbetween programming sessions thanks to you. I've been overwhelming myself with code lately and to get to sit back and relax and see other peoples' work and progress is a great motivator and relaxer

Neither did I

I am impressed with your stuff Ortu. I especially like that female; looks natural. Not with boobs bigger than anything else on her, but natural.

I can model too, but I really hate posting my modelling because I really like to take my time, but some people make criticism of trivial pointless aspects I do not care about so early, and assume too much. When you work on a game on your own, having to do everything means having to spend 15 minutes on this and 15 minutes on that, with a million different things to do lol; not to mention music, sound effects and UDP networking .

I'm literally taking 2 years to model my characters real slow, starting off with the technical gaming implementations (bones, LOD, customization, clothing, hair, performance etc) then working my way towards the details towards the end of the 2014; lol not tommorow.

Where can I see more of your stuff?

Great! I sometimes look in the FPSC sections; there are some gems there too; the ones that don't use the same artwork, the same UI and the same sound effects; there are some individuals like Wolf who seem to pioneer the editor.

thanks Chris, and yeah I know wht you mean. that girl has taken something like eight months off and on and i am still just finishing up the low poly retopo, hopefully i can unwrap, bake, texture, and rig by the end of the year

so many other things require time and attention, most modelling work gets done on lunch break or 15-20 min stretches some weekends. I've got a good bit of other work throughout the 3d board over a couple of years, particularly the old monthly competitions, but none of it really measures up to my current work.

I really should spend more time poking around he FPSC and AppGameKit boards, i am always surprised when i do take a look but rarely think to follow up.

@pictionary wish i knew of more sustained projects, there only seems to be a handful around here these days but i really enjoy seeing how things develop as well. particularly where the wip is in more of a dev log fomat that goes into both how something is being done and why its done that way in addition to the standard this is what i'v done lately updates. Chris does a good job with this in his updates.

I'll have a wip up soon enough that I believe people will be interested. I've been working on it soo long and making it so flexible that progress will be fast.

Looking forward to it! I've been thinking about posting one myself sooner or later. most of the basic component modules are done but I've been holding off until I have a bit more media put together. its hard to get interested in a bunch of cubes and no gameplay no matter how much underlying code structure is done.
