Quote: "Video game Diablo 3 is to ditch its auction houses after its developer acknowledged the facility "undermines" gameplay. Blizzard took a cut of any transactions involving real-world money, offering it an extra source of income. But it has now acknowledged that the facility "short-circuited" the title.

It follows complaints from gamers that the auction houses made the game less satisfying to play as they undermined the challenge of the battle to defeat Diablo, the "lord of terror"."

I read that earlier. And though I've used the AH (gold not money), I'm ok with it. Frankly, I don't have $50 billion gold to buy most of the stuff anyway. And I'm not paying for gold with real money like most of those people do. And yes, I know they do exactly that when their profile says they've barely collected 12 million overall and yet have have every uber item available. Getting rid of the AH might bring some level of fairness back to the game. Not that it really matters since it's way more boring with it's strictly linear gameplay over D2.

I don't even like the game but I'm still mad that my account got perma-banned even though I played the game for like 6 hours and never did anything that would get my account banned.

Please, tell me more! I am going to buy D3 and don't want to loose it. Also, what will happen if I tie my D2 to battle net account? I will lost it too?

Support SHOULD be able to fix the issue - I know theyre good at giving back hacked accounts, and you shouldnt have been banned for no reason (they definitly wouldve sent you a mail regarding the reason)

I have a few top level characters and I haven't been banned.

Handy, isn't your D2 account already tied with your battle net? I didn't know people were still playing D2.

I don't know if blizzard still deletes characters after their standard 3 months of inactivity or not. Anyone know?

No, I want to tie D2 only to get "digital version" feature.

They did send me an email saying I was perma-banned for apparently hacking and using cheats even though I never did. I got banned like a year after I bought the game, they probably just banned me thinking I would buy it again.

So you lost the game or access to multiplayer?

I assume both. I'm not going to beg Blizzard for my account back for a game that made me sick, though.

Odd indeed and no, they do not just "ban people to get you to buy it again" - were that the case, i wouldnt have gotten my account back

for Diablo 3 that's the same thing.

Maybe some antivirus soft affects Bliz's cheat detector?

Not sure, I doubt it since I use Avast and haven't had D3 installed for many months.

Turns out my boss and my mate have had their accounts perma-banned. It's like Blizzard hates Tasmania or something.

My friend got one but I'm not sure about my boss, he lost access to all his WOW and Star Craft 2 accounts, too.

Do they just ban your account if you don't play their games for a certain time?

They'll delete them after so long of inactivity, not ban.

You mean that if you beat singleplayer you need to "enter the game" once in a while to not get your purchase canceled/deleted/etc???

If you're referring to D2, all they can delete is your multiplayer account. Your single player game stays on your harddrive.
