Here is an article I found off a dev site...

basiclly it describes several toys and video games deemed "too violent" and which parents shouldnt buy for thier children.

I don't know, I'd be actually happier if the age ratings on the games would be more strict. That way it wouldn't be so easy to blame the games when some kiddie goes to blow somebody's brains out.

I agree with las6, i think the ratings should be harder, and it should be more difficult for a minor to gte access to those kind of games

True, but you must simply laugh at some of there choices. A ziod toy, Nerf, even Lego, these guyes are a little off the deep end. I bet they still think Rock & Roll is the devil's music and D&D is a cult. Point being you can't shelter you kids forever, if you try to they'll hit reality and be more messed up then any Video Game junkie.

Hehe, It's funny how people here desensitisation and automatically assume it means your kid is a zombie!

I let my boy play stuff like GTA and Halo, I keep a close eye on him, but he's never done anything that would concearn me. Kids learn the difference between a game and reality much quicker than people realise, I seriously doubt that violent games have any lasting negative effects. The positive effects are never brought up. For a start, desensitisation improves your ability to cope with stress, to the point where you don't even get sick as often as more sheltered people. If you play violent video games, it actually makes it easier for you to cope with violent behaviour, it does'nt make you violent, it might mean your more likely to stick up for yourself though.

To tell the truth, the only time I've stopped my son playing a video game was when he was getting really upset at a frustrating part in Spyro on the PSX, I reckon dodgy playability does more harm to your childs frame of mind than any amount of blood and gore.

Agreed, Van B, if you want to see homicidal rage you can go wrong with a game that has a dodgy jump button.
