I already went through the earlier threads on changing the icon and did not see anyone have success except for adding the icon in the IDE.

Well, I tried that and the IDE still warns that there is no icon setup for the EXE.

I used Gimp to save my bitmap as .ico. And it is 32x32x24. Latest version of the IDE and DBPro..

I have never had success with saving icons using paint, photoshop, or anything. I now use this website for all of that:

http://www.pic2icon.com/

Upload an image, it converts to ICO for you. Can even do web favicon's as well.

Tried your website conversion... that made absolutely no difference in the IDE stating that there is no icon selected.

I use Icofx portable.

It's free, unlike the none portable version.

Never use the IDE to add an icon. (And renaming a bmp as .ico doesn't make it an icon, even if windows recognises it.)

If using the IDE isn't the way to change the EXE icon, then why is there a field in the defaults for it and why does the IDE warn that there isn't an icon assigned???

The answers so far are the same as in the other threads where no one was successful.

I guess the first question is which IDE are you using? There are several "stock" IDEs. I use Codesurge, but I tested my current stock editor, and found on the properties tab, an icon field. Compiled and tested, and it worked.

You can add icons in all IDE's but I've found that unless the icon is a true icon, not a renamed bmp file, the resulting exe's icon looks poor.

As with anything, A dedicated piece of software is always going to be better bthan a jack of all trades.

I am using the IDE that came with Dark Basic Pro and then updated it to the latest version. I am using all DBPro "stock".

GIDustin: I cannot read your text on your image. Too small. But it looks like you are showing the default settings. Correct? I am doing the very same thing and I still get a warning that no icon has been set.

I will be going all AppGameKit anyway, so I won't need to understand the DBPro way. From what I understand so far (and have read) the C++ version of AppGameKit (Tier 2) has an easy method for changing the ICON.
