Hello everyone,

I decided to revive this old thread of mine and I'm going to post new artwork in the coming weeks. My reasoning being that it was last replied to back in December 2013 and there might be some new AppGameKit programers that might be able to make use of some of these.

I also moved it here from the 'Product Chat' forums.

Feel free to post comments, Enjoy!

These Sprite Sheets are in Alpha-Channel .png image format. I hope you can make use of them.

Cheers!

---------------------------------------------

P.S. The tiles are FREE for both Commercial and Non-Commercial use. (Just mention me in the credits if you use them.)

---------------------------------------------

..and now the first Sprite Sheet.. Card Games Anyone?

I hope this first 'Batch/Flood/Spam' of AppGameKit Sprite Sheets is to your liking and that some of you might find some inspiration to use them.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to post them here. I'm not gonna make promises, but if you don't ask/suggest the odds of seeing your feedback come to life is small to nill.

Cheers and have a Great Day!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Great graphics.

On a side note on the Rummy Tiles image. Many years back, a friend of my father's asked him to write a definitive book on Rummy Tiles. My father (Jerry C. LaPlante, yes, I am very proud of him) had never even heard of the game. But he did it anyway, it took a lot of research. But it is the only one of his books not mentioned on his site and one that he published under a different name ("The Official Book of Rummy Tiles" by George Duchamps). I have an autographed copy.

Cheers,

Excellent. I would say they are up to your usual standard, but they somehow seem even better. Must be that extra layer of gloss varnish you added

I've been looking for a utility to create the atlas text file (especially for the fonts) but can't find a suitable one. Does anyone know how to do this easily?

I tried it but I got a little bit lost

I was trying to use the auto feature and generate the grid of sprites in one go. But I could only get it to find the first one in the top-left corner.

@BatVink:
In order for the auto detect feature to work, the sub images need to have at least a 1 pixel gap between each one, a single uniform background colour and not contain sub images inside the whitespace of another sub image.

(Which means it won't work with the lovely shiney sprite sheets supplied by the slightly epic David Gervais)

However, as they are all of uniform size, rather than using an atlas file, it would be simpler to load them as an animated sprite, and just change frames to switch image.

I never considered using AIDG to make data files for this kind of sprite sheet, but I will add it to the next release.

@David Gervais:
Thank you for these amazing tiles, the Rune ones will be perfect for an upcoming project.

@David Gervais

Thank you for creating these fantastic tiles, they will be very useful.

@All
My current game needed individual images of some of the tiles so I created the following bit of code to create individual images from the whole sheet.
I am sure there are other ways of doing this, it is just a quick program that I needed, it is commented, so if you think it could be useful to you, feel free to modify for your own use.

Markus, that's looking good, memory games can be fun!.. other tiles I posted here like the road signs would make for a good memory game too. just saying,

Small bump.. so? has anyone used any of these tiles? (besides Markus and Marl) Speaking of Marl, got an updated screenie of that dice game? I'm curious.

If you have used any of these tiles, please post some info on your projects.. If all I get is pats on the back, but no samples of these tiles in use, it makes me feel like I did this to benefit nobody.

Oh well,

Cheers!

@David Gervais

I too am working on a memory game using some of the excellent tiles you created.

Thank you for all your work on them. I will post some screen shots when I am a bit further on with the game.

Thank you again.

I've got the overall idea in place and All the logic is worked out, but I'm at a crossroads.

I was originally doing it in 2D. The dice move around a board - odd twist I know - and I want them to "roll" when they move.

In 2D, this means either squeezing the sprites to create the illusion of a roll - which will pass if done fast, or pre-rendering "rolling" frames to get a more 3D effect.

It may well be simpler just to do it in 3D, which is what I'm looking at now.

SO sorry, nothing visual to speak of yet, but when there is, I'll post it here.

In 3D, I suppose you paste the image on all six sides of a cube and then roll it.

@ Marl - have you thought of 'shaking' the dice to the left and right briefly while playing a dice/cup shake noise and randomly changing the face of the dice? I used this once, way back, on an Amiga game I made and it looked much cooler than my description of it

Cheers, and good luck with your game.

@ David - thanks so much for the images. Graphics take ages for me, and contributions like this to the community are a godsend! Much appreciated.

These are fantastic! I've been away from AppGameKit for a while, but seeing these has got me all inspired to make some games.

Thank you SOOO much for the lovely FREE images! There should be a repository on here somewhere for free user submitted media (or is there already)?

Some great work on here David.

Piano keys or keyboard would be quite useful if you get the time or urge to have a bash, in that nice colourful glossy style of yours. More for kids apps

Already got the kids font you did in another post, very good.

The Amiga and Amos were great!
