If you install FPSCreatorModelPack41 onto the retail version of FPS Creator then your levels don't build and you can't test them. It fails on an array check for AI scripts. So watch out for this, it must be built for a later version of FPS Creator.

Do you need an update? I'm sure we've all got 1.17+

check out the latest beta; 1.20b18!

That aught to fix your problems.

Thank you

I probably do need the update, however, I have gone back to V1 because I need compatibility with Dark Basic Pro because of the work flow I am wanting to use to build my game. I've found that building a level in the latest FPS Creator V1.19 and then bringing it into DB Pro the level is totally gray. So back to the retail version for me, but alas, this model pack crashes on V1 when I install it and try to test a level.

Which is a shame because the model pack looks really, really good.

Don't update to this use 1.20b17a with the unofficial update as v1.20b18 has an editor issue.

All model packs from number 30 need more upto date versions of fpsc due to new scripting commands.

you need to update from v1 as this is a very old version and you losing on all the good stuff in fpsc.

I would update if my levels didn't go completely gray in Dark Basic Pro afterwards. Maybe I've done something wrong but the same steps work fine when I do them from V1 (i.e. there are textures on the level, yay), so for me, I have to go back to V1.

Essentially I'm using FPS Creator as a level builder and doing the heavy work of building the actual game in DB Pro. This way I can make a first person RPG of some depth. I took a look at the RPG Mod manual but got turned off by the complexity and to be honest replacing the exe seemed a bit dodgy as well. However, in DB Pro I can make the game as deep or as complex as I want so it's the best option for me.

I'm thinking something like Dungeon Master/Bloodwych for the RPG. I've got a lot of old Dark Basic code from more than ten years ago which I might have a dig through soon to see what might be useful.

At some point, I forget which version, but some limited protection for textures went into FPSC.

This can be disabled from Buildsetup.ini. Find the line:

imageblockmode=1 and change it to imageblockmode=0

Do this before opening FPSC and obviously before building your level.

I'm guessing that as you've reverted to V1, you know how to export the level already.

I hope that helps.

Thank you for your help.

I have now resolved the issue. It turns out that DB Pro has to be updated and not just FPS Creator. I think that could well be the change that you were talking about.

I've been away from the scene for so long that many things have changed. When I was here before, a long time ago... there wasn't even a DB Pro, only a DB Classic and I don't remember there being an FPS Creator either. Lots of new tools to play with!
