Hi all,
I've just upgraded to win 8.1 and I get this error message when I try to run Dark Basic:

When I press OK, DB simply quits, no matter which settings I put in the compatibility mode.

Does anyone else have this problem ?

What happens if you turn compatibility mode off?

Same behaviour: error message and then it quits.

Just use the original editor instead of editor new...

I am sure Lee will have to make a fix soon...

I have the same problem with win8.1, uninstalled db pro, reinstalled and updated to 7.5.

7.5 update worked.

I have the problem too. I uninstall DBPro, install it new, install the 7.5 update. Same problem.

Then i change the directory outside of "c:\programm (x86)". Same problem. I try now the 7.62 update and hope it works.

I have the same problem. I have one computer running windows 8 which runs with no problems using EditorNew.exe

I have a second computer running windows 8.1. Second computer has the same problem stated above. EditorNew will not work, get the same message about compatibility. As a lark I reinstalled dbpro from 5.4 (my original purchase) to 7.1-results were the same.
tried 5.4 to 7.2 same result. Reinstalled 5.4 to 7.3 same result.
Continued trying all of the reinstall versions in this manner thru 7.7 same result.

If you want to run dbpro in windows 8.1 it appears the only editor that works is EditorU73.exe which does not use the Senergy.cfg file but uses the Editor.ini file. This is not the editor I want to use but will do until EditorNew is fixed.
Good luck guys!!

I think we have to wait until the FPS reloaded is released because it will be released with an updated editor. that should work on win 8.1

Additional information for post on 24th Oct. 2013:21:02:

The only way I was able to gain access to "EditorU73.exe" was to run upgrade "DBPro_upgrade_7_3.zip".

I don't understand how waiting for FPS reload to be released will help the situation. I don't want to purchase FSP reload just to get an editor that might or might not work with DBPro.

It seems to me that Lee needs to update EditorNew or at least let us know his intentions.

I understand he has other obligations at the moment but... a post would be nice.

Hey guys, I don't have 8.1 could you try this original IDE:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=199386&b=1&msg=2419959#m2419959

Also, does 8.1 affects on made applications? Or just editor?
