Okay I want my player (in multiplayer) to start with a pistol and an M4A1

I have this already


But I wanna have the player start with a pistol too but I don't know how to do that, any advice?

Do you mean like dual weapons? A different one in each hand, that
would be something custom made. Doable I guess, but very custom. There are some dual weapons in MP6.

I mean the player has 1 pistol and if they press 2 they have an M4A1

I did this by spawning a gun under the player spawn, then make him drop down or something so he wont get alot of ammo from the gun.

I've tried that but how do I make the player keep the gun when he dies?

I assume if you picked a character with a weapon he should still have it when one respawns. Or are you referring second weapon placed under him at spawn? You can also give the character a custom weapon outlined in the "Official Guide" page-255.

Just a thought, when you build/test your MP-game are you using
"random" start markers or the "designated" start marker for
your character? Thinking that if you do use "random" start
your second weapon of course wont be under you when you spawn.
