Does anyone still use it? I was looking around that site and pretty much nothing has been updated since 2009.

I have a book on it but is it worth learning and working with? Is the guy who made it going to keep working with it to improve it?

I want to find a good free or low cost modeling and animation program to work with. I have been messing around with blender but just can't get used to it. I am more used to milkshape and have not worked with it nearly as much as I have with blender

We use Milkshape quite a bit (actually my wife uses it more than I do) for making our media in our developments (both in DBP or FPSC). We use it in conjunction with FragMotion for our animations. I think it is worth learning and working with- every little bit helps at some point. I do use Blender (I use it more than my wife), but Milkshape was easier to pick up.

Besides, I needed Blender to make my Milkshape(s).

There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.

Milkshape is a very good 3d program, it is well worth the $20.00 you pay for it. I use it a lot for putting bones in models and amin.

Well there is 3 good votes for it! I guess I'll hit that book and get into it. I bought the program years ago and never did a lot with it just played a little. I recently bought the hands on milkshape book and it looks pretty good. Does anyone know about any updates for the program? I know years ago when I bought it he was popping out a couple a year.

Stick to 1.8.4 or 1.8.3 and you'll be fine!

Are they still available? I installed 1.8.5 because it was the one available. I remember there was an issue with a recent upgrade but didn't remember it was that one so I'd better check again. Thanks for the warning.

Serves me right for being lazy and not checking my old machine before downloading.

Dragon slayer, I've been using MS3d for over 10years and for a low cost low polygon modelling program I cannot rate it higher, it has done everything that I have needed without going into really high poly stuff. Is it as good as Maya etc? Not a chance but it's like a fiat and a Ferrari, both cars are going to get you there, just one faster than the other.

With regards to it being updated in the future, I had spoke to Mete earlier this year and it didn't really look like Ms3d was going to make it to 2.0 (which it has been for around 10 years) as he was busy with work. The forums are bare and the site barely updated and with its downfall due to torrents etc the future doesn't look bright for it.

But all n all it's a great program

At 1 point I remember seeing that this version would not go beyond 1.85 then there was going to be a 2.0 that would have to be purchased but at some kind of discount if you were a current owner.

I am wondering if a program such as this could be made with DBP or would c++ or c# be better. Just curious! You would really have to know programming and 3D to do it. Way past my level at least for a few years yet!
