Hi,

as I just got a new PC, I wanted to install DBPro now. Since the last time I installed it (surely 8 or so years ago) I moved twice and haven't seen my activation key since, which reduces the chance of it still being around to practically 0.
All I've got is the CD (without case), looking somewhat like this:

My father ordered it back then as a present, and it was the german version (called "3D Games Creator" instead of Dark Basic Professional, but apart from the name it seems to be the same). Consequently the activation key does not seem to be stored with this forum account, i.e. I cannot retreive it from My Products or Order History in My Account.

Sooo... is there any other solution for me other than using the free version or buying the whole thing again? I've still got access to the old PC where DBPro is installed properly. Is the key possibly saved somewhere on the hard disk or in the registry?

I'm fairly sure it is. If I recall correctly IanM posted some instructions on how to copy the relevant bit of the registry a few years ago. I have no idea what thread topic it was posted on but you might be able to locate it using a search. If I find it I'll post back.

Edit The certificate code or key might be the thing inside the DBPro/Compiler/Certificates folder. Try that first before messing about with the registry.

Hi there
I wasn't sure if that was legal, but if someone have already done and was ok,...what I use to do when my PC crash, instead of activating again, is copy the forder "CERTIFICATES" that use to be into Darbasic professional/compiler/certificates...and paste into the new PC COPILER folder, so next time we execute Dbpro, it will start correctly activated

EDITED sorry GG ...we write at the same time

Cheers.

You can also copy that folder to the free version and it will work.
