My trial version of DBPro for the Alienware compo has expired. I installed shortly after it was made available. Now what do I do? Is there anyway that I could extended it for 1 month? I tried re-installing it without success...

HELP!

I thought the trial was suppose to last till Dec. 31? Might need to contact Rich, or another TGC member about this.

@Dr OcCuLt

I haven't got too far yet... but I was really hoping on handing something in at least.

@yellow

Yeah I was under the impression that it would last for the duration of the compo. I just sent an email to Rich. Hope he has a solution.

Just as I was finally finding some time to work on it...

well the illegal way would be to find the registry keys and delete them, then reinstall and it would work but irecommend you just give TGC $100 in exchange for the full version...it's better.

Hmmm, well. According to this, you're out of luck.

http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?gf=alienware

Says it lasts 90 days, and if you got it shortly after it came out,(about 2& 1/2 montsh ago.), that's about 90 days.

I suggust you find a team/person, that will be willing to help you out.

Isn't that kind of a contradiction? The duration of the compo is 4 months...

Isn't the regular trial version 90-day? I guess I misunderstood.. I figured "a special version" meant that you got a 30-day bonus.

Darn!

well what you could do is, finish your code in like notepad or something, and then send it to somebody you know who ons dbp. they can then compile it for you

Without the ability to even test run it? That's just insane!

I wish I had anything to say other than buy the full version... yeah, the page does seem to contradict itself.

Didn't Pro's price just drop, though? Especially on amazon.com, it's very low there now... you might be able to get it a lot cheaper than $100.

If you're lucky, $60-$70 on amazon minimum. TGC also has a good offer, like Mouse mentioned.

If nothing,

1.)download the db trial, and finish your code in db.
2.)Send it to someone to compile/edit in dbp or db.
3.)you're all set.

Buying it is an option but by the time I would receive it I would have lost plenty of time...

Hmmm desperate times call for desperate measures... just haven't figured out what yet...

Must come up with solution...

can't you just uninstall the alienware and install the other trial for your last 30 days? When I was with the trial, I uninstalled it, installed the alienware, and had the full 90 days.

Interesting. Well, that gives him 2 choices then. Not sure if they'll work, but it's worth a try.

1- download regular db demo. This will most likely help you with testing your code, but I don't think you can compile with it.

2- Try downloading dbp demo, and see if that works. If so, you still won't be able to do these things, but it shouldn't make a difference in your entry.

(from trial version page)
-Showcase and Functionality examples for every command category
-Example Projects showing different techniques
-Complete Tutorial on Making an FPS Game
-Save your final executables without the popup and watermark
-Bitmaps, sounds, music, models and animation media for you to use
Manual and CD containing tutorials and demos

I don't know about the special trial, but the original DBP Trial version was only Patch 3 I believe. This might not matter though.

Glad you can at least keep working.

Although, I'll kill myself if you end up beating me. (lol, just kidding.)

Teebow I think that the idea was that if you are serious then would decide to buy DBP to finish your project. Most likely changing to DBC in mid-development is gonna cause a few headaches.

Yeah but I was hoping to finish my entry first and then decide whether or not to buy it after the compo.

Plus, the top ten get a free version of it anyways. (Not that I'm implying that I'm that good or anything. But you never know what they may decide.) So I would be kicking myself if I would have bought it then (with lots of luck) won it. Right? That's why I wanted to wait.

Rich said that it wasn't meant to last the full compo duration, and that you should allow some time for testing
