Hopefully someone might be able to help me out a bit. I have created a few models of architecture and colored some of those models with areas of black... then I'm using the set object command to tell it not to include the areas of black.

Now the problem is, it indeed does not include the areas in black... but when you stand and look from the inside out, or from the outside in, the textures appear to go mostly white... almost like it had 100% ambient lighting. So if you looked at an object outside a window, the object on the outside would appear as if it was lit to brightly.

Just wondering if there is anybody who has seen this before. Thanks in advance.

can u demonstrate the problem by using inbuilt models and inbuilt texture creation.?

eg: using the image locations make a simple texture with a black square in it and texture a few primtives in a demo peice of code.

err, so is it transparent or not?
The image I get from that is that it is transparent, but not really. Like there was some ghosting on or something.

You can recreate the problem with primitives... but it turned out to be a combination of being ignorant about how to set up dynamic lighting properly, and also setting the options on the objects with set object.

Black wasn't the best choice for transparency, since you could see through various parts, but 'set image colorkey' helped me out there (so I could look at the Cartshop maps the way they look in cartshop with blue as transparent)

The other issue with everything seeming 'bright' turned out to be just that... the objects where not reacting to light at all. The 'lights' showcase really helps out there as well.

So again, just fired off a question without looking hard enough for the answer.

--thanks--
