Some code libraries I use, like Matrix, require this dll (and another one). If I recall right, these are remnants from old windows versions but still needed by those dlls (right?).

Anyways, I was wondering if I was allowed to add them to any game I might build and redistribute those dlls?

Dlls:
- mfc71.dll
- msvcp71.dll
- msvcr71.dll

Thanks!

Thanks Gandalf!Tracked a link though the link you provided and it states that it is no longer considered window system. For the CRT Dll (msvcr71.dll). That one can be redistributed, but only to place in your applications directory. Not to be placed in any of the windows system directories.... if I understand right.

Not sure about the others. Discovered that they are Visual C++ 2008 files and that some of them can indeed be distributed... but I assume only with application created with Visual? Also the site state that the list of dlls that can be distributed in the docs for visual 2008...

It's still not perfectly clear for me. No one else ran into this before?

It isn't to me either - but I'm sure people here have included those files from time to time with their projects. I can't see any reason why there should be a problem with doing that.

I don't think it's a problem I've encountered on any of my machines - probably because they get installed anyway by various applications that I have. For example, as of U7.4 DBPro places two of those files into the Compiler folder.

Just go ahead and include them - and if Microsoft complains blame me.

Hehehe, alright then. The info on those links are talking about certain dll's and those are very commonly distributed. I'll assume it's okay and if I ever make something with market value or something, I will dive into it further.

LOL. I will!
