Well, to be able to generate your own stuff, you could grab Vue D'Esprit

http://www.e-onsoftware.com/

Learning edition, to see what it's about:
http://www.vue3d.com/ple/

It creates and renders super-detailed scenes that do a damn fine job of mimicking nature. You can basically drag and drop terrain, foliage, tree's etc etc etc. It's very organic and quite a nice program to use. There are other renderers out there, but I always liked Vue best, I used to use it to bake terrain textures for heightmaps. I think Vue could make some really awesome visuals for a top down game.

Looks great... but can it also be used for 2d games?

So I can use the graphics within AGK...

Yes, it's designed for rendering 2D stills, like an artist would add terrain and foliage, water feature, tree's etc etc, then render it and then maybe post-process it in Photoshop, to produce pretty close to photorealistic scenes.

But, you can render say, a terrain from the top down, or a tree, or anything really. You would need to put in some work to make it a tile sheet - but if you can use 1 big image as the backdrop for your game, then it's a lot easier. It has been a while since I used it - so I'm not sure how good it is at saving say, an individual plant as an image - but there's always a way. Vue should save right to PNG which is ideal for AGK.

...the shop system is not active / does not work.

You cannot order anything as the shop system does not work / not accept any payment option.

That's the problem.

hi,

vue is great - but it seems you cannot export complete maps / worlds to png, tiff or so.

well, maybe someone knows a good place to get game graphics, free or for purchase?

i am especially interested in terrain textures, trees, cars, houses, ...

thank you!

best,
