This is a vastly improved screensaver version of my mini space battle 20 liner, as requested by Ravey at the convention and various other people. It's basically the same, but with improved graphics and sound effects. The camera pans around the battlefield while little AI ships chase around, blowing each other up with lasers. Also is the inclusion of a cruiser, which sits just off the battlefield blasting the little ships with its beam laser turrets. The little ships will attack the cruiser until its shields fail and it explodes! Boom!

You can get it off my site: http://www.mikeyben.org/darkb

I think you might need to install or reinstall DirectX 9.0b. Without it, you can't run any DB program from 5.0 or up.

On the matter of bugs, after a while of running, I get "Sound Does Not Exist at Line 651" or something. Might wanna check up on that.

I thought I'd posted a response to that, evidently not. A new version has been released, replace your old version with it! It fixes a few things, including the 'sound does not exist' bug.

The new version is really rather good as a little demo, but suffers just the same as my screensaver did that if I leave my computer with another application running (Everquest/3dMax/DBPro/DBPro Creations so far confirmed) it opens up a gazzillion error messages about not being able to initialise the display. In the case of this screensaver it forces me to hit the magic button.

I love it ... I think I'll get it as my usual screensaver.

Great to watch. Needs better music to go with it though. It would make a nice battle simulator for a large scale space strategy game too.

I liked your 20liner and I like your scr.

GREAT THING

I have (slso) some suggestions for improvement
- a readme to explain all settings
- an option to choose where the camera should be (its a little bit odd to see only the cruiser...) maybe setting the camera so that allways the whole battlefield is visible
- chose the fighters only to attack the cruiser

A very early demo is now available - comments very welcome

Very nice!

Mirrors are more fun than television. Well, that was fun, in a not-so-fun sort of way...

For me it seems that the settings are not saved. Every new start it has no sound ...
