I know this subject crops up from time to time, but are there still no firm plans to port AppGameKit to Linux? It looks like Linux is doing better on Steam than a lot of people thought it would, with sales typically being close to those for Mac. I really think if it\'s worth supporting Mac as well as Windows, then it\'s worth supporting Linux too.

at first there will come the goals from kickstarter.
i think next year is tgc busy with version 2.

i agree, linux as target is great but there are so much distributors
and so much versions, i believe it will end in trouble/problems.

the thinking of company apple i don't like.

I don't think supporting many distributions is all that hard really. The libraries that AppGameKit would depend on are mature and stable now, so even if you only supply .deb packages built for whichever is older at the time out of Debian stable and Ubuntu LTS, you're catering for the majority of Linux users. Add .rpm format too and that takes care of nearly all the others. You could also use tarballs with or without a self-extracting shell, but IMO deb and rpm are better for users. Anybody using a distro that doesn't support deb or rpm natively is likely to be tecchy enough to extract the contents of either of those and install manually. Tools to help automate building of all three types of package could be bundled with AGK.

Another way is to use Steam. A lot of people developing Mac and Windows games with AppGameKit would probably like to use Steam too. Valve are even developing their own gaming OS based on Linux.

BTW, I forgot to mention in my previous message, Unity3D is now available for Linux, at least in a preview version, which I think is further strong evidence of demand for Linux games.

I would love to see AppGameKit get a linux version, I started using steam OS a week ago and im liking it a lot more than windows already. Unfortunley I dont think we will get a linux verison any time soon since TGC will need to finish V2 before they can start working on non V2 features.
