On upgrading my pc to XP pro, I installed darkbasic pro and the patch 5 (latest) and the ide patches. After doing so, I lost the ability to read .3ds objects (it freezes) - there are no problems with .x models however.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

.3ds is pretty much screwed, you were very lucky if you got it to work before. The f1x0r for it is the upcoming U6. Hallelujah!

A very nice %it, indeed.

.x files are much better anyway, .3ds hardly supporst anything, and with .x u dont even ned to load ur textures into DBP cos it does it for u!(as long as they are uvw mapped)

I'm makin' a cake...

I would make my models in .x but my editor will only do .3ds (only reason I use it is beause it was free - anim8tor)

does anyone happen to have a converter for .3ds to .x ?

THANKS

The 3DS files that I have made load OK (albeit slowly). Ones that I downloaded can appear to crash/hang DBP.

Download lithunwrap 1.3 - 3DS models exported from there definately work (cos I use it)

Can I ask you a Question?
What is it?
It's an interrogative form of sentence, used to test knowledge. But that's not important right now.

You lose the limb position data from lithunwrap and pandadx(3dmax)
milkshape does the same.

This is getting silly no program I have used will keep the limb position data. most of them reset the limb center to the object center, or delete all but the first two.

Someone plese clue me in
